The story of Lord Ganesha & the Moon
Description
In this segment, host Sowjanya tells one of the most popular stories in Indian mythology - the story of Lord Ganesha & the moon.
One of the most beloved tales featuring Lord Ganesha revolves around the moon. Once, after a playful feast, young Ganesha rode on his mouse, startling the moon and causing it to wane. Mocked by other gods, the moon sought refuge with Lord Shiva, who advised him to approach Ganesha for forgiveness. Understanding the moon's remorse, Ganesha kindly granted him a boon, decreeing that anyone who looks at the moon on the auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi will face false accusations. This story not only highlights Ganesha's benevolence but also explains the tradition of avoiding moon-gazing on that sacred day.
