Trauma Care in Northern Quebec: Dr. Jeremy Grushka and Dr. Evan Wong
Description
"Current care in terms of surgery in our Indigenous communities is a hot public health issue. We're not treating patients the same. That's painful to say, but that is the truth." - Dr. Jeremy Grushka, Trauma Surgeon, MGH-MUHC
The Montreal General Hospital's (MGH) Trauma Centre is responsible for a territory that expands well beyond Montreal and includes Cree and Inuit communities in northern Quebec. Annie DeMelt speaks with Drs Jeremy Grushka and Evan Wong, trauma surgeons at the MGH, about the realities of patients in northern communities, from Cree territories along the James Bay to the Inuit population in Nunavik. Donor support of the MGH Trauma Centre is vital to the mission of providing excellence of care to all patients, whether in Montreal or across the province.
