Description

The farm house and barn are still standing on the the Voit Farm on Madison’s eastside, but the development company working on the project is hoping to replace them with 1500 housing units and public park access. Today we are digging into those plans more with three stakeholders in the community.

We start the program by talking with District 15 Alder Grant Foster about how the city has been involved the development.

Then, we chat with Helen Bradbury from Stone House Development about the proposed plans for the land. Stone House and Threshold Development makes up Starkweather Creek, LLC: the group that is developing the Voit Farm property. Helen is president and co-owner with Richard Arnesen of Stone House: a Madison based full-service development company.

Finally, we talk with Colleen Robinson, interim president  of Save the Farm, about the community input the group has received and the history of their organization. Save the Farm is a grassroots network of several hundred community members with a vision to “co-create a diverse, accessible community that nurtures the health of people and nature through economic justice, urban agriculture/local food access, and environmental sustainability” on the Voit Farm property

Save the Farm is holding a meeting tomorrow January 10th at 7pm on Zoom to discuss the proposed development and the future of the organization.
