Description

Summary:

Christ experienced the human nature that we have and suffered the discipline to become our Savior. We too must walk in His footsteps and lay aside this human nature, walking in that same discipline from the Father, giving our wills over for Him to make us those living sacrifices of worship, sons that are pleasing to the Father.

Show Notes:

  • Christ had to lay aside all the things in His human nature as we do.

  • We too must lay aside our human nature and become that living sacrifice to God.

  • We must give over our will to the will of God.

  • God is the one doing this. This is not a self-help program.

  • We submit to His will and working in our lives.

  • We trust in Him to finish the work that He started in us.

Quotes:

  • It's about the suffering that Christ went through in doing the will of God. He had to put to death the things in the nature He was born with.

  • Lord, am I where you want me to be?

  • Have I offered myself as a living sacrifice to You, which is my reasonable service of worship?

  • This is about giving our will to the will of God, to be completed by Him.

  • When we give our hearts wholly to the Lord, that's the pure way of change. It's the pure way of cleansing. If we go any other route, it's a self help program.

  • It's the preparation of the Holy Spirit just ministering to you, and the submitting to staying, waiting for Him to complete the work in us.

  • I know nothing else to do, but to stand in the presence of the Lord, be still and know that I am God. That's where my completion comes from.

  • Just trust in the Lord with all your heart. Stop leaning on your own understanding. Don't even give it a thought. In all your ways, acknowledge Him, and He will direct your path.

Have this mind in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: who, existing in the form of God, counted not the being on an equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in the likeness of men; and being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, becoming obedient even unto death, yea, the death of the cross.

Hebrews 2:17-18

For this reason he had to be made like them, fully human in every way, in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that he might make atonement for the sins of the people. Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.

looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

For it is God who worketh in you, both to will and to do of His good pleasure.

He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.”
