今回もノブオ先生のノートを拝借してきました(^^

6 STEPS TO USING VISUAL AIDS EFFECTIVELY

Bodyを進めていく時に様々なVisual Aid（視覚資料（グラフや表など））を使うと思います。

その効果的な紹介の仕方について6つ紹介致します。

1. DRAW attention to the topic of the next visual aid

（次のスライドの視覚資料のトピックについて、聞き手の注意を引きつける）

- Next, I’ll show you…

- To get a better understanding of what’s happening, let’s look at….

- To find out what’s going on with…, we need to examine…

- To explain what happened, we need to talk about…

- As the next slide/graph will show, the situation for… is very different.

2. INTRODUCE the visual aid

（視覚資料に見出しを付けて紹介します。見出しは短くシンプルな名前の方が聞き手の記憶に残ります）

例：Annual Sales in 2012

- This graph here shows…

- The chart here describes…

- This table here illustrates…

- The pie chart here compares…

3. DESCRIBE the visual aid

（聞き手が、今何を見ているのか分かるように視覚資料を描写しましょう）

- Here you can see…

- As you can see here…

- The horizontal axis shows…

4. POINT OUT the key points

（キーポイントを指摘しましょう。それによって聞き手はなぜ今その視覚資料を見せられているか理解できます）

- The reason I’m showing you this is to point out…

5. GIVE REASONS. Explain why this is important.

（なぜそのスライドの情報が重要と考えているのか聞き手に説明しましょう）

6. SUMMARIZE the most important information

（何がそのスライドの中で最も重要な情報なのか要約しましょう）

※単に視覚資料を映すだけではダメですし、また聞き手が正しくそのデータを理解できたり解釈できると期待してはいけません。情報を通して聞き手を案内して、そしてキーポイントを強調するのは話し手の責任です。そのように進めていきながら、それぞれのスライドについて聞き手が付いて来て、かつ聞き手自身のスピードで内容を理解できるようにしなければならないと言う事を忘れてはいけません。聞き手がちゃんと視覚資料を理解できているか確認するためにも聞き手を常に見ましょう。

今回は、TOEICのラストにして最大のポイント、Part-7です。

Part5-6を急いで解いて、時間を残してきた甲斐があります。

時間があれば、解ける問題です。

広告や受付用紙のような文章は理解しやすいので、必ず解きましょう！

Part5－6で時間を使ってしまっていても、

諦めることなく、①設問をざっと読む。②本文の中から答えを探し出す。

を、繰り返していきましょう！！

ここでの頑張りがスコアに大きく影響しますので(^^

Nobuo: Hi! Pierre! I’m okay!

Pierre: Where are you going?

Nobuo: I’m going to Main Library.

Pierre: You are really diligent as everyone says.

Nobuo: as everyone says?

Pierre: Yeah, everyone says you are geek or something.

Come to think of it, can I ask something…

Nobuo: What?

Pierre: Um…No…I mean…please forget about it. I gotta go!

Nobuo: Wait! Now, I’m curious. Go ahead!! Once you start it, you should finish it.

Pierre: Okay, here is the thing.

Nobuo: Uh hun.

Pierre: Perhaps, are you gay?

Nobuo: What?

Pierre: I mean, somebody said that you have some kind of potential of gay.

Nobuo: No way! Cut it out! I’m straight!

Pierre: Oh that’s a relief. Of course, I don’t care if you are gay or not.

Nobuo: Could you shut up? I’m hurt.

Pierre: Hahaha..I’m sorry. Well, let me make it up to you. Huh?

Next Friday night, Pacers’ court side ticket with two girls, what do you say?

By the way, I stayed in the Philippines for 1 month to study English.

（←I had been ～だと、「～に行った事がある」と言う意味になってしまうので、stayed in～「～に滞在した」が良いと思います）

When I was staying there（もしくはDuring my staying there）, the strongest typhoon attacked some islands of this country.

（←someの後に続く言葉は複数形になります）

But there I could stay safe.

（原文、文型が乱れてしまったかも？？（笑）「安全に過ごす事が”出来た”」と言う意味を込めて、couldを使うと良いと思います。この文型は、But（接続詞）+ there（副詞）+ I（主語）+ could（助動詞）+ stay（動詞（自動詞））+ safe（副詞）の第1文型になります）

I enjoyed the stay because of my Philippine teachers.

（←enjoy myselfと言うのは、一緒に遊んだりした人に別れ際に言うような言葉の気がします。だからenjoyed the stayで良いと思います！。また、「フィリピン人の」と言う場合はPhilippineと単数形になります）

I recommend that you visit there.

（←recommend to visitでも間違いでは無いですが、「あなたに」勧める、と言う意味でrecommend you to visitもしくは、recommend that you visitの方が良いと思います！）
