Life is The Lab. It's time for moms (and all parents & guardians) to own their power (and help their kids feel more empowered), experiment with self-care, and design the lives they love. When we feel empowered to design the life of our dreams we show others that we can thrive. Dr. Stephanie Akoumany shares her journey and the mindset & paradigm shifts that moms can take to intentionally align their thoughts, emotions, actions, and habits with their dreams. She discusses the mind-body-energy-confidence connection and how ambitious African American moms (and dads) can free themselves from overwhelm through scientifically backed self care strategies such as yoga, meditation, breath work, storytelling, dance, nature walks,  visualization, and journaling. This course was a follow up presentation for Jack and Jill Foundation's Eastern Region Day of Work. When you have a dream you have to follow it. No matter what anyone says. How often do you follow your “knowing”? Your “knowing” is your intuition. The brilliant ideas that arise to help us on our journey. Oprah says the universe speaks to us constantly, but subtly at first. In whispers. If we don’t listen, those whispers become loud & soon make themselves known. Listen, follow through, and bloom. Paige Morency-Notario co-owner of Nadical Ashtanga discusses how yoga, mindfulness, and running can help us ride the waves of life and work towards our dreams with confidence, consistency, strength, and more ease. Paige discovered yoga while cross-training for the Marine Corps Marathon over a decade ago, and has been practicing daily ever since. She soon found that yoga brings life into balance; it energizes, while grounding; it strengthens, while limbering; it encourages, while humbling; it is external, yet every bit internal. She has studied with David Robson, Jelena Vesic, Kino MacGregor, Pedro Rubio, Maryl Baldridge, Jen Rene, & Michael Joel Hall (Ashtanga), David Kyle (Rocket), and Mimi Rieger (Power Vinyasa). She's been a daily Mysore-Style Ashtanga practitioner for over seven years and channels many of the lessons learned on her mat while teaching. Questions we asked Paige: 1. What does physical, emotional, and mental agility mean to you and how do you remind yourself you're in bloom? 2. Among the many amazing places you have worked such as the Washington DC's Bilingual Public Education system and the World Bank, what inspired you to commit your career to international development and improving access to quality education around the world?3. What routines help you enter into a flow state? How does it feel? 4. How has yoga helped you find balance, channel your energy, and discover new found physical and emotional strength?5. Why did you create Nadi-Cal Ashtanga and how do you ride the waves of life and entrepreneurship to make your visions come to life more quickly and with more ease?6. How has technology helped you accomplish your personal and business goals and enjoy your journey? 7. Why is it important that change-makers and leaders own their power and share their gifts more consistently and authentically? 8.
