What many of us also don't realize is that the most powerful stories of all are the ones inside of our own heads that we tell ourselves each and every day, guiding our life. ***** If this episode resonates with you or could help someone you know, don’t keep it to yourself—SHARE it! In this episode from our Archives, we cover "Gratitude" practices. Gratitude practices believe that the act of purposefully acknowledging things you are grateful for on a regular basis can improve happiness in your life. It can sound a little too "woo-woo" for a lot of people, but in reality there is a very supportive blend of research that supports Gratitude Habits as a great way to improve your mental state, so we will cover how to frame gratitude in ways that will work best for you. ***** If this episode resonates with you or could help someone you know, don’t keep it to yourself—SHARE it! When you’re getting back into shape after long layoffs, people don’t talk much about the mind games. It’s like a trickier version of the newbie mistake thinking they’ll “see” results in just a couple of weeks. When you were in great workout shape before, you know what that FEELS like, and you know what YOU felt like. So if that’s you, when you’re getting back into it and get those good workouts that push you further you will FEEL those old, familiar feelings. Your shoulders feeling jacked… you actually feel abs again. Then you look in the mirror and learn what you already knew but allowed yourself to think otherwise…Nope, still overweight and out of shape. And that’s important to remember, that it will take time. That’s good because things that take time last longer. But while it may seem like an evil trick, that FEELING of your body feeling in shape again is THE MOST IMPORTANT part! Feeling better ALWAYS comes first. That’s the same for newbies and out of shape trainees alike. You will FEEL better and more capable before any long-lasting physical effects have taken place, and that’s important because it also means training and eating right are working and the needed adaptations are taking place. Stay on the right track, and we promise - those feelings of getting fitter and healthier will translate to real, physical, tangible results. ***** We hope this episode helps you or someone you know lead a happier, more satisfying life. In today's broadcast of "Asymmetric Habits", we continue our dive into Negative Circumstances. As covered in our last episode there are times to tolerate, times to overcome, and times to change your exposure to certain negative circumstances. One useful tactic is to set deadlines. Deadlines give you time to see if circumstances will improve or can be fixed, or alternatives found, without trapping you in an endless loop of "maybe it will get better" by providing you with a specific timeframe to make a decision. *****  We hope this episode helps you or someone you know lead a happier, more satisfying life. We’ll all find ourselves in negative circumstances sometime in our life, whether it be a bad job fit, financial troubles, relationship troubles, or any other of the countless troubles that can make up life. To some degree - we tolerate it, if the end result seems worth it. Sometimes we can overcome it. But we can only tolerate negative circumstances for so long or put in the energy to overcome them. Eventually we have to change circumstances to avoid worse or more permanent effects. *****  We hope this episode helps you or someone you know lead a happier, more satisfying life.
