We are happy to welcome back our resident psychotherapist, Montana Vascotto, for Part 4 of our on-going series here at Ignite the Chat called "Therapy 101." In this episode, we discuss why we feel so blah during the winter months and how things like resolutions, weather, and the holidays give us so much angst. Montana shares some tools and tips on how to keep focused and eliminate those barriers that we sometimes get stuck on. Join us for an unbelievable episode! Guest Bio: Montana Vascotto holds a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology degree, and currently running her own practice. Power Your Thoughts Counselling and Psychotherapy | virtual therapy Her experience working in private practice and her prior experience at Sunnybrook Health Sciences, Thompson Anxiety Clinic, North York General Hospital, and clinical research labs at Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly known as Ryerson University) have served to give her more insight into how to best provide a safe and comfortable environment for vulnerable individuals. Likewise, as a chat volunteer with the Certified Listeners Society, Montana provides individuals with emotional support and guidance in navigating their life challenges to assist them in reaching a happier outcome. These experiences combined have taught Montana the importance of taking a holistic approach to mental health—one that treats the whole individual and utilizes outside resources when necessary (e.g., medical doctors and psychiatrists). She is currently offering virtual psychotherapy and counselling services only to adults and adolescents living in the Greater Toronto Region who are presenting with different challenges and personal issues. In this episode, we bring you Part 2 of Giuliana Borrell's story. In Part 1, we spoke to Giuliana about her childhood leading up to the present day. In this episode, she dives deep into her life of trauma and mental illness. She takes us through what it's like to have a manic episode and how living in silence led her to a psychotic break. Part 2 is all about how this brave woman let go of all the demons and concentrated on her healing instead. She finally understood that in order to love her life fully today, she had to first forgive and release herself from the past. Today, she's a new woman with a new lease on life, and she has a message for all of us. This is Part 2, and it's an exciting one! We hope you all come back so that we can finish Giuliana's story together. This story isn’t for the faint of heart. Because we are addressing the unspoken, and diving into themes of childhood sexual abuse, neglect, depression, anxiety, and suicide, we are issuing a *TRIGGER WARNING* for our listeners. Telling your truth is not an easy thing to do. Which is why Giuliana had her caregiver, Nina, right by her side the whole time. Nina openly shares what life is like caring for someone battling mental illness and has a message for caregivers everywhere. Brace yourselves for an emotionally charged episode, as Ignite the Chat presents the final part of Giuliana's powerful and long-untold narrative. In this episode, we will be taking you through what an intimate session between a therapist and client would sound like. Our guest co-host, Montana Voscotto (a registered psychotherapist), has agreed to hold a 25-minute session with our host, Gia Laurent. Gia has fully consented and agreed to share a personal therapy session (led by Montana) with all of you in order to give you all a true account of what to expect. *The accounts from this session are a real, raw, and personal part of my actual life, and I have given my full consent for this content to be recorded and shared with all of you and the public. I truly hope this brings awareness and adds value to anyone thinking about seeking therapy. Guest Bio: Montana Vascotto holds a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology degree. Her current experience working in private practice and her prior experience at Sunnybrook Health Sciences, Thompson Anxiety Clinic, North York General Hospital, and clinical research labs at Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly known as Ryerson University) have served to give her more insight into how to best provide a safe and comfortable environment for vulnerable individuals. She is currently offering virtual psychotherapy and counselling services only, to adults and adolescents living in the Greater Toronto Region who are presenting with different challenges and personal issues. To learn more about Montana or to schedule a free therapy consultation, you can book online at: Book Online | Meaningfully Connected Counselling (janeapp.com) (for virtual appointments) Online Booking | OutSmart (outsmartemr.com) (for virtual appointments) You can also follow her on Instagram @poweryouthoughts_ Ignite the Chat Podcast - written and produced by Gia Laurent IG - @wordsbylaurent Theme song - written and composed by Matthew Giardulli For more information on Ignite the Chat visit www.inkstane.com IG - @inkstane *If you are someone you know is in crisis - GET HELP!
