In this episode we have an awesome chat with Australian athlete Jess Pettrow. Living in the states after moving out to focus on her track and field career, Jess told us how she lost her love of running but found it again when she started competing in Hyrox. She is made for this sport and has certainly shown it. A last minute roll down spot for the Amsterdam Major saw Jess jump on a plane and rock up halfway across the world to put in a storming performance and take 6th place. Andy caught our eye in London when he competed a Hyrox race in full Fire Fighter PPE! As if the race isn't hard enough imagine adding Firefighter trousers, jacket, helmet and breathing apparatus! Wow, what can we say about this episode! We loved chatting to Jo, she is one of the most awesome girls we have had on the podcast. Not only that, she is rapid! Jo is causing a storm down in Australia, at only 22 years old she has just posted the forth fastest time ever in the pro female race with an incredible 1hr 52 seconds. Then, 2 days after recording this episode she went and beat her PB in Perth and got a 1hr 46 seconds! Pelayo stormed into Hyrox making a name for himself quickly amongst the Elite 15. He comes from a triathlon background so something a little different from the other elite male Hyrox athletes; a sport that has such an incredible crossover and it shows. He took 4th pace at the Hyrox World Championships in Nice and when we sat down to chat we realised just how he managed to do it. Ever wondered how Hyrox set up these huge races? Races like London Olympia for example where thousands of people walk through the doors to race or spectate over 3 days being set off in waves every 10 minutes? Have you ever stopped to think how long it must take to set up the race venue and pack it away? Do you know how many times they measure that running track so they can confirm it hits 1km at every venue?
