A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Mark恭读圣马尔谷福音6:1-6Jesus departed from there and came to his native place, accompanied by his disciples. When the sabbath came he began to teach in the synagogue,到了安息日,他便开始在会堂里教训人: and many who heard him were astonished. They said, “Where did this man get all this? What kind of wisdom has been given him? What mighty deeds are wrought by his hands! Is he not the carpenter, the son of Mary, and the brother of James and Joses and Judas and Simon? And are not his sisters here with us?” And they took offense at him. Jesus said to them,耶稣对他们说: “A prophet is not without honor except in his native placeand among his own kin and in his own house.” So, he was not able to perform any mighty deed there,耶稣在那里不能行什么神迹, apart from curing a few sick people by laying his hands on them. He was amazed at their lack of faith. The word of the Lord. One word that is difficult word is the word “accompanied”. It is the past participle of Accompany, to accompany means to go with. Now let’s say it together. a-ccom-pa-nie-d  accompanied.  There, you have it  Another difficult word is the word “wrought.” Remember that in english when a “w” is followed by an “r”, together they sound justlike an “r”, like in the word write.  And often when you see “o”, “u”, “g”, “h”, ”t” all together it is pronounced like “ot”, think of the words sought, ought. Now let’s say it together.Wrought is the old fashioned past and past participle of work. It is old-fashioned because we do not use it very often today, but it was used a long time ago. We see in the Gospel that Jesus came to His own home and said many great things, 在这段福音中我们看到,耶稣回到他的家乡并讲了很多伟大的事情, but the people did not listen to these things because they had seen Him before, 但是人们并不想听这些,因为他们以前见过他, and they thought they knew all about Him. So Jesus could not do anything more for them. This reminds us that God often times talks to us in our everyday lives,这就提醒了我们,在我们的日常生活中,天主经常会与我们交流,  He reminds us how much he loves us in little ways. We should remember that everything about our life, our life itself, is a gift, 我们应该记住,我们生活的一切,以及生命本身,都是一份礼物, even the small things and the God is always with us telling us that He loves us. But we do not always think this, because, like the people in Nazareth, we think that we know everything and have done everything ourselves! Let us remember today how much God loves us and see His love in everything and everyone around us. And remember that everything we have is a gift from Him. God bless you and never be discouraged in studying English. Keep up the good work.
A reading from the holy gospel according to Mark恭读圣马尔谷福音4:35-41 On that day, as evening drew on, Jesus said to his disciples, “Let us cross to the other side.” 有一天晚上,耶稣对门徒说:“我们渡海到对岸去罢!”Leaving the crowd, they took Jesus with them in the boat just as he was. And other boats were with him. A violent squall came up and waves were breaking over the boat so that it was already filling up. Jesus was in the stern, asleep on a cushion. They woke him and said to him, “Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?” 我们要淹死了,你不管吗?”He woke up, rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Quiet! Be still!” The wind ceased and there was great calm. Then he asked them, “Why are you terrified? Do you not yet have faith?” 怎么还没有信德呢?”They were filled with great awe and said to one another, “Who then is this whom even wind and sea obey?” The Gospel of the Lord基督的福音Greetings to my Chinese friends my name is Annika and I am from the United States of America. I work as a wedding photographer in Rochester Minnesota. One difficult word in today's gospel is the word “squall”今天,福音中一个困难的词是 "squall" In the word squall since the q is followed by a u. they use sounds like a W.. Will. Will的音。 He woke up, rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Quiet! Be still!” The wind ceased and there was great calm. In today’s gospel, Jesus’ disciples are confronted with a great storm while they are at sea. They call out to Jesus and he quiets the storm by saying “Quiet, be still” . In our lives, we are often faced with many storms. From this gospel, we learn that when we are confronted with tribulation we should call out to Jesus to bring peace in our lives. Once we do this we should have faith and trust that Jesus will calm our hearts. In this passage, we learn that Jesus has power over everything. And even though sometimes we don’t know how to pray Jesus knows what we need”我们了解到,耶稣有能力战胜一切。 Stick to the readings. See you soon, so long.
Reading the gospel with foreigners亲爱的听众朋友们,主内平安! 14:12-16,22-26On the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, when they sacrifificed the Passover lamb, Jesus’ disciples said to him, "Where do you want us to go and prepare for you to eat the Passover?" 无酵节的第一天,即宰杀逾越节羔羊的那一天,门徒对耶稣说:“你愿意我们到那里,给你预备吃逾越节晚餐?”He sent two of his disciples and said to them, "Go into the city and a man will meet you, carrying a jar of water. Follow him. Wherever he enters, say to the master of the house, The Teacher says, "Where is my guest room where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?"' Then he will show you a large upper room furnished and ready. Make the preparations for us there." 他必指给你们一间铺设好的宽大楼厅,你们就在那里,为我们预备吧!”The disciples then went off, entered the city, and found it just as he had told them; and they prepared the Passover. While they were eating, he took bread, said the blessing, broke it, gave it to them, and said, "Take it; this is my body." Then he took a cup, gave thanks, and gave it to them, and they all drank from it. He said to them, "This is my blood of the covenant, which will be shed for many. Amen, I say to you, I shall not drink again the fruit of the vine until the day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God." Then, after singing a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives. Hello, Chinese Friends! My name is Katherine and I am speaking to you from the United States of America. Katherine。The sentence from the gospel passage we will focus on today read at normal speed is: While they were eating, he took bread, said the blessing, broke it, gave it to them, and said, "Take it; this is my body.” This passage shares some very important words of Jesus for our faith as Catholics. Jesus himself is telling his followers and all of us who read his words, that He is the new sacrifice. Through his death on the cross, He is saving us from our sins so we can lead a life with Him and in Him while here on earth and a life with Him for eternity upon death. We are creatures with a body and a soul and faith in Jesus is the only way to save our soul. He gave up His body so that he could save our souls, we must partake of His body and blood. Dear Chinese friends, always remember that when you partake of the body and blood of Christ, you are uniting with his humanity so you may one day share in His divinity. May God bless you. Matthew 28:16-20 The eleven disciples went to Galilee,to the mountain to which Jesus had ordered them. When they all saw him, they worshiped, but they doubted. Then Jesus approached and said to them,"All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me.Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age." Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.感想Hello, my name is Sr. Emmanuelle from the Community of the beatitudes. I'd like to say hello to everyone listening.I'm going to talk about Matthew Chapter 28 which tells us the last words of Jesus before he ascended into heaven. So this is his goodbye speech at the end of the gospel. what does he say? Jesus tells us that he is with us always until the end of the age. This means that he's close to us, He is listening to our prayers caring for us, Helping us guiding us. On good days and bad days, when we feel that Jesus is close or not. He's made this promise he's always with us. And we know that God doesn't lie.The more we get to know Jesus and pray, the more we recognize his presence and see how wonderful this is. Once we welcome Jesus into our lives then we're ready for the second commandment of this gospel. Go therefore and make disciples of all men, baptizing them in the name of the father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. In this verse, Jesus invites us to share with others about salvation. Baptism is how someone becomes a Christian. So many people are lost and troubled or empty inside or seeking false ways of happiness. So many people do not know who God is. And maybe would like to know the truth. God is a Trinity the Sunday that we're celebrating. Trinity means one God, three persons, the father the, son, or Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. God loves them and wants to save them and needs them to eternal life. The happiness that we discover in living with Jesus is not just for us alone. God wants all people to know who He is. So may we live this day with Jesus. And think of how we can share him to make disciples, not of ourselves, but to make disciples of Jesus in this world.
Reading the Gospel with Foreigners A reading from the Holy Gospel of John 15:26-27;16:12-15 Jesus said to his disciples:那时候,耶稣对门徒说: “When the Advocate comes whom I will send you from the Father,“当护慰者,就是我从父那里,给你们派遣的、the Spirit of truth that proceeds from the Father,那发于父的真理之神,来到时,he will testify to me.祂必要为我作证; And you also testify,你们并且也要作证,because you have been with me from the beginning. “I have much more to tell you, but you cannot bear it now.“我本来还有许多事,要告诉你们,然而,你们现在不能负担。 But when he comes, the Spirit of truth,当那一位真理之神来到时,he will guide you to all truth. He will not speak on his own,因为祂不凭自己讲论,but he will speak what he hears,只把祂所听到的,讲出来,and will declare to you the things that are coming. He will glorify me,“祂要光荣我,because he will take from what is mine and declare it to you. Everything that the Father has is mine;凡父所有的一切,都是我的;for this reason I told you that he will take from what is mineand declare it to you.” testify ['testɪfaɪ ]v. Hello to my brothers and sisters in China. Thank you for choosing this podcast to help you study the Gospel. In this passage from John, Jesus lets us have a small, quick look at who He really is, and who He really is, is God. God is love, goodness, and truth itself. This is why Jesus says He will send the Spirit of Truth, that the Spirit of Truth comes from the Father, and that this same Spirit glorifies Jesus, who is the Son of God. In a sense, Jesus will go away from His disciples when He ascends into heaven. Yet, through the Holy Spirit, He will become closer to His disciples than ever before. Jesus desires this same closeness with you as well. Please remember that the God who gave us free will also respects our free will. He will not force His way into our hearts. When you feel worried, scared, confused, or hurt, invite the Holy Spirit to be your advocate and to guide you. Here is a common, simple prayer to invite the Holy Spirit into your day: Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love. L: Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created. A: And You shall renew the face of the earth. Reader&Speaker: Rachael JohnsonHost: Carrie LiEditor: Sophie ChenDesigner: Rafaela zhangProducer&Copyright: 沐光小鹿2021
A reading from the Holy Gospel of John恭读圣若望福音17:11-19Lifting up his eyes to heaven, Jesus prayed saying:“Holy Father, keep them in your name that you have given me,so that they may be one just as we are one. When I was with them I protected them in your name that you gave me,and I guarded them, and none of them was lostexcept the son of destruction,in order that the Scripture might be fulfilled. But now I am coming to you.I speak this in the worldso that they may share my joy completely. I gave them your word, and the world hated them, because they do not belong to the worldany more than I belong to the world. I do not ask that you take them out of the worldbut that you keep them from the evil one. They do not belong to the worldany more than I belong to the world. Consecrate them in the truth. Your word is truth. As you sent me into the world,so I sent them into the world. And I consecrate myself for them,so that they also may be consecrated in truth.” Holy Father, keep them in your name that you have given me, so that they may be one just as we are one. The above gospel passage, most specifically the sentence we studied, is Jesus praying to God for us. He knows He is returning to heaven and so is asking God to strengthen all of us, His followers. He knows the world is difficult for anyone who wants to follow Him, there are always temptations, but with God’s grace, we can overcome the temptations and live our lives as Jesus did, for God. We must avoid temptation and trust God and His will for our lives. Jesus, through His death, made it possible for us to be filled with God’s grace, we need only love and trust. Thank you for listening today Chinese friends. God bless you Chinese friends.
A reading from the Holy Gospel of John恭读圣若望福音Jesus said to his disciples:那时候,耶稣对门徒说:“As the Father loves me, so I also love you.“正如父爱了我,同样我也爱了你们;Remain in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love,如果你们遵守我的命令,便存在我的爱内,just as I have kept my Father’s commandments正如我遵守了我父的命令,and remain in his love. “I have told you this so that my joy may be in you“我对你们讲论了这些事,为使我的喜乐存在你们内,and your joy might be complete. This is my commandment: love one another as I love you. No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.“人如果为自己的朋友,舍掉性命,再没有比这更大的爱情了。You are my friends if you do what I command you.“你们如果实行我所命令你们的,你们就是我的朋友。I no longer call you slaves,我不再称你们为仆人,because a slave does not know what his master is doing. I have called you friends,我称你们为朋友,because I have told you everything I have heard from my Father. It was not you who chose me, but I who chose you“不是你们拣选了我,而是我拣选了你们,and appointed you to go and bear fruit that will remain,并派你们去结果实,去结常存的果实;so that whatever you ask the Father in my name he may give you. This I command you: love one another.”“这就是我命令你们的:你们应该彼此相爱。” My name is Katherine and I am speaking to you from the United States of America. Katherine。The sentence from the Gospel passage we will focus on today read at normal reading speed is:在本周的福音中,需要我们关注且常速跟读的句子是:This is my commandment: love one another as I love you. So the full sentence one more time with the pronunciations we just practiced通过刚才的练习,我们再完整的读一遍选句。This is my commandment: love one another as I love you.It may be difficult right now Chinese friends, but I know you can do it. How did Christ love us, Chinese friends? He loved us enough to endure great pain and death to save us so we can live with Him in eternity. He gave up His life for us, he loved us greater than man can love. But man can love as Christ did if he believes in God and follows Christ’s teachings. We must empty ourselves of this world, so we can fill ourselves with the love of Christ then our actions toward one another will be as Christ commands. As St. Augustine tells us, “they who love one another for the sake of having God within them, they truly love one another.” God bless you Chinese friends, keep reading and keep praying愿天主降福你们,请继续诵读,不断祈祷。 Reader&Speaker: Katherine IelminiHost: August HuEditor: Sophie ChenDesigner: Rosa WangProducer&Copyright: 沐光小鹿@2021
A reading from the Holy Gospel according to John恭读圣若望福音15:1-8 Jesus said to his disciples:“I am the true vine, and my Father is the vine grower. He takes away every branch in me that does not bear fruit, and every one that does he prunes so that it bears more fruit. You are already pruned because of the word that I spoke to you. Remain in me, as I remain in you.Just as a branch cannot bear fruit on its ownunless it remains on the vine,so neither can you unless you remain in me. I am the vine, you are the branches.Whoever remains in me and I in him will bear much fruit, because without me you can do nothing. Anyone who does not remain in mewill be thrown out like a branch and wither;people will gather and throw them into a fireand they will be burned. If you remain in me and my words remain in you,ask for whatever you want and it will be done for you. By this is my Father glorified, that you bear much fruit and become my disciples.” Anyone who does not remain in mewill be thrown out like a branch and wither;谁若不住在我内,就像枝子丢在外面而枯干了He takes away every branch in me that does not bear fruit, and every one that does he prunes so that it bears more fruit. In this Gospel, Jesus shows how much we need to stay close to Him and to be filled with His life and His joy. A keyword in this passage is the word “remain”, it means to stay in a place, to live in a place. When Jesus calls us to remain in Him, He is calling us to live our lives with him, to do all we do with Him, the small things we do every day and the big things. Everything should be done with Jesus in love and joy. When He says that He remains in us, He reminds us that He is always with us to fill us with His life and love. Remember when you are happy or when you are sad, when you have many hard things to do and when you have many easy things to do, He is with you and wants to live with you to share your life with Him. He wants you to remain in Him as He remains in you. Augustine of Hippo (AD 430):For then may His words be said to remain in us, when we do what He has commanded, and love what He has promised. But when His words remain in the memory and are not found in the life, the branches not accounted to be in the vine, because it derives no life from its root. So far as we remain in the Savior we cannot will anything that is foreign to our salvation. Thank you everyone for listening Reader&Speaker: Lizzy Ielmini (US)Host: Francisca Huang
A reading from the Holy Gospel according to John (10:11-18)恭讀聖若望福音 10:11-18  Jesus said:“I am the good shepherd,a good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. A hired man, who is not a shepherdand whose sheep are not his own, sees a wolf coming and leaves the sheep and runs away, and the wolf catches and scatters them. This is because he works for pay and has no concern for the sheep. I am the good shepherd, and I know mine and mine know me,just as the Father knows me and I know the Father;and I will lay down my life for the sheep. I have other sheep that do not belong to this fold. These also I must lead, and they will hear my voice, and there will be one flock, one shepherd. “This is why the Father loves mebecause I lay down my life in order to take it up again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down on my own. I have power to lay it down, and power to take it up again. This command I have received from my Father.” Hello Chinese Friends, my name is Katherine and I am speaking to you from the United States of America中國的朋友,你們好,我是Katherine,在美國與你分享這篇福音。  The sentence from the Gospel passage we will study today is:今天我們要從福音段落裡學習的句子是:  These also I must lead, and they will hear my voice, and there will be one flock, one shepherd. This sentence, as St. Cyril of Alexandria tells us shows thatJesus is here sharing His life, His light, His truth to every country under heaven including China. Christ is the door that leads to God, to our eternal life with Him.Only through the door of the Good shepherd can we be saved. It is Christ who gave us the instruction for our salvation. Trust Jesus with your life, just as the sheep must trust their shepherd with their lives, He is our Good Shepherd and shows us who trust in Him how to save and live our lives for God. Thank you for joining us Chinese friends. 24:35-48A reading from the Gospel according to LukeThe two disciples recounted what had taken place on the way, and how Jesus was made known to them in the breaking of bread. While they were still speaking about this他们正在谈论这些事的时候he stood in their midst and said to them耶稣立在他们中间,向他们说“Peace be with you.”“愿你们平安!”But they were startled and terrifiedand thought that they were seeing a ghost. Then he said to them, “Why are you troubled?耶稣向他们说:“你们为什么恐惶?”And why do questions arise in your hearts?“为什么心里起了疑虑?”Look at my hands and my feet, that it is I myself. Touch me and see, because a ghost does not have flesh and bones你们摸摸我,应该知道:鬼神是没有肉躯和骨头的。as you can see I have. And as he said this,he showed them his hands and his feet. While they were still incredulous for joy and were amazed.他们由于欢喜,还是不敢信,只是惊讶;he asked them, “Have you anything here to eat?”耶稣向他们说:“你们这里有什么吃的没有?”They gave him a piece of baked fish. he took it and ate it in front of them. He said to them,“These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you,耶稣对他们说:“我以前还同你们在一起的时候,就对你们说过这话”that everything written about me in the law of Moses and in the prophets and psalms must be fulfilled. Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures. And he said to them耶稣遂开启他们的明悟,叫他们理解经书;又向他们说:“Thus it is written that the Christ would suffer and rise from the dead on the third day”“经书上曾这样记载:默西亚必须受苦,第三天要从死者中复活”and that repentance, for the forgiveness of sins, would be preached in his name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things. ——The Gospel of Lord基督的福音单词讲解Hello to my Chinese friends中国的朋友们,你们好my name is Luke and I work as a business manager in the United States of America. One difficult word in today's gospel is ghost. When you pronounce ghost you say it without the H. sound. startled  /ˈstɑːrtld/v. While they were still speaking about this他们正在谈论这些事的时候he stood in their midst and said to them耶稣立在他们中间,向他们说:“Peace be with you.”“愿你们平安!” In today's gospel, Jesus says peace be with you. 在今天的福音中,耶稣说“愿你们平安!”I think that it's a very important reminder that Christ comes and gives us his peace which is more important and more powerful than anything that goes on in the world around us. So let our hearts not be troubled with the cares and worries of everyday life but let the peace of Christ reign in our hearts. I really encourage you to keep up with the reading it's very important to continue to feed our souls with the word of God. Reader & Speaker:Luke Van de LooHost: John HuDesigner: Rafaela ZhangProducer&Copyright: deeratdawn@2021
A reading from the Holy Gospel according to John恭读圣若望福音20:19-31 When it was evening on that day, the first day of the week, and the doors of the house where the disciples had met were locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you.” After he said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord. Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.” When he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them;if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.” But Thomas (who was called the Twin), one of the twelve, was not with them when Jesus came. So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord.” But he said to them, “Unless I see the mark of the nails in his hands, and put my finger in the mark of the nails and my hand in his side, I will not believe.” A week later his disciples were again in the house, and Thomas was with them. Although the doors were shut, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you.” Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here and see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it in my side. Do not doubt but believe.” Thomas answered him, “My Lord and my God!” Jesus said to him, “Have you believed because you have seen me?  Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have come to believe.” Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of his disciples,  which are not written in this book. But these are written so that you may come to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that through believing you may have life in his name. Dear friends, my name is Karolina Kubisova and I am a student at the International Theological Institute in Austria. I am very glad to share this gospel reading with you today. I will focus on the last sentence of this gospel reading:  But these are written so that you may come to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that through believing you may have life in his name. This gospel shows us that Jesus meets us in our fear and doubts. Like the apostles, we can also be afraid of what other people think of us because of our faith. But he rose from the dead and there is nothing more to be afraid of.  He wants us to believe in him; he wants us to have his peace. I wish you all the best with studying English! A reading from the holy Gospel according to John. 12:12-16When the great crowd that had come to the feast那时候,来过节的群众,heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, 听说耶稣来到耶路撒冷,they took palm branches and went out to meet him, and cried out:便拿起棕榈枝,出去迎接他,高声欢呼:“Hosanna!”“贺三纳!“Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, the king of Israel.” Jesus found an ass and sat upon it, as is written:耶稣找了一匹小驴,就骑上去,正如经上所记载的:Fear no more, O daughter Zion;        “熙雍女子,不要害怕!         see, your king comes, seated upon an ass’s colt.         看,你的君王,骑着驴驹来了!”His disciples did not understand this at first, 起初,耶稣的门徒,并没有明白这些事,but when Jesus had been glorified 然而,当耶稣受光荣以后,they remembered that these things were written about him 他们才想起这些话,是指耶稣而记载的。and that they had done this for him. ──The Gospel of the Lord My name is Katherine and I am speaking to you from the United States of America. Katherine。The sentence from the Gospel passage we will focus on today read at normal reading speed is:今天我们要关注并且常速跟读的福音选句是:Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, the king of Israel. The above passage is extremely important in understanding how Jesus Christ saves us. It shows how the people were believing in Jesus as their awaited king because of His preaching and the miracles he had performed and so were singing his praises and treating Him as the King they believed him to be. But, as the passage also states, Christ was not a human King, but rather as St. Augustine says “Christ was not the King of Israel, to exact a tribute, and to command armies, but to direct souls, and bring them to the kingdom of heaven.” Ultimately, Our Lord Jesus Christ came to earth to save us from evil, to help us live our lives as God wants. He alone is the Way, the Truth and the Life.  Following Him as our King will give us the freedom to live in God’s will and truly become who He wants us to be. God Bless you Chinese friends - may you have a very Blessed Holy Week and Easter.  My prayers are with you always.
A reading from the holy Gospel according to John恭读圣若望福音12:20-33 Some Greeks who had come to worship at the Passover Feast  came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, and said to him, “Sir, we would like to see Jesus.” Philip went and told Andrew; then Andrew and Philip went and told Jesus. Jesus answered them, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. Amen, amen, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains just a grain of wheat; but if it dies, it produces much fruit. Whoever loves his life loses it, and whoever hates his life in this world will preserve it for eternal life. Whoever serves me must follow me, and where I am, there also will my servant be. The Father will honor whoever serves me. “I am troubled now. Yet what should I say? ‘Father, save me from this hour’? But it was for this purpose that I came to this hour. Father, glorify your name.” Then a voice came from heaven, “I have glorified it and will glorify it again.” The crowd there heard it and said it was thunder; but others said, “An angel has spoken to him.” Jesus answered and said, “This voice did not come for my sake but for yours. Now is the time of judgment on this world; now the ruler of this world will be driven out. And when I am lifted up from the earth,I will draw everyone to myself.” He said this indicating the kind of death he would die. Whoever loves his life loses it, and whoever hates his life in this world will preserve it for eternal life. Hello, brothers and sisters! My name is Frankie Roskam,  and I am from Chicago Illinois in the United States of America. It is an honor and a blessing to read scripture together with you and to reflect on the words of our lord. Reflecting on this verse, it makes me question what am I holding onto in my life? What do I need to lose in order to preserve eternal life? This is an important question to ask especially during this Lenten season where we empty ourselves of?Maybe food, maybe social media, maybe something else that takes a lot of our attention and we fill it with going to Mass, with reading Scripture, with prayer, with being in community, with reading holy books. So makes me think maybe in my own life what am I holding onto, too tightly. What should I lose in order to receive the eternal blessings that Jesus wants to give me right now. I truly invite you right now to ask the same question. What am I holding onto too tightly?Ask the Holy Spirit to look and eliminate this, to show you, to speak to you. Brothers and sisters, thank you for listening this week. Reader:Frankie RoskamHost: Francisca HuangDesigner: Rafaela ZhangProducer&Copyright: Deeratdawn@202
A reading from the Holy Gospel according to John恭读圣若望福音3:14-21Jesus said to Nicodemus:耶稣向尼苛德摩说:“Just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert, 「梅瑟曾在旷野里高举了蛇,so must the Son of Man be lifted up, 人子也应照样,被举起来,so that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life.” For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, 天主竟这样爱了世界,甚至赐下了自己的独生子,so that everyone who believes in him might not perish 使凡信他的人,不至丧亡,but might have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, 因为天主没有派遣子到世界上来,审判世界,but that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him will not be condemned, 那信从他的,不受审判;but whoever does not believe has already been condemned, 那不信的,已受到了审判,because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. And this is the verdict,审判就在于此:that the light came into the world, 光明来到了世界,but people preferred darkness to light,世人却爱黑暗甚于光明,because their works were evil. For everyone who does wicked things hates the light的确,凡作恶的,都憎恶光明,and does not come toward the light, 也不来接近光明,so that his works might not be exposed. But whoever lives the truth comes to the light, 然而履行真理的,却来接近光明,so that his works may be clearly seen as done in God. The Gospel of the Lord基督的福音单词讲解serpent  /ˈsɜːpənt/   n. ( literary) a snake, especially a large one perish  /ˈperɪʃ/  vt. wicked  /ˈwɪkɪd/  adj. Hello to everyone who is listening. My name is Elizabeth and I am from the United States. Thank you so much for listening to the Gospel with me today. Let's look at a word that is difficult to pronounce. A word that is used here is “condemn”. This word is difficult to pronounce because it has an “M” and an “N” at the end of it. But do not worry, the “N” is silent, so you only say the “M”.It sounds like this“Con- demn”, “Con- demn”. To condemn means to judge someone or something as bad. This Gospel reminds us of how much God loves usand he sent his son to save usthat is to forgive our sins and bring us life. When you feel you can do nothing good because you are weak and sinful,当你觉得自己既软弱又可耻而无能为力的时候,remember how much God loves you and ask him to bring you life, 请记得天主是那么爱你,请求祂带给你生命!And ask the spirit to fill you, because without God we can do nothing but with Him, we can do all things. Do not then be discouraged in reading English. It is very difficult to pronounce sometimes but continue and you will always get better. Thank you so much for listening to the Gospel with me.Goodbye to everyone. Reader:Elizabath IelminiHost: Francisca HuangDesigner: Rosa WangProducer&Copyright: Deeratdawn@2021
A reading from the holy Gospel according to John: 2:13-25Since the Passover of the Jews was near, Jesus went up to Jerusalem. He found in the temple area those who sold oxen, sheep, and doves, as well as the money changers seated there. He made a whip out of cords and drove them all out of the temple area, with the sheep and oxen, and spilled the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables,就用绳索做了一条鞭子,把众人连羊带牛,从殿院都赶出去,倾倒了换钱者的银钱,推翻了他们的桌子;and to those who sold doves he said, “Take these out of here, and stop making my Father’s house a marketplace.” His disciples recalled the words of Scripture, “Zeal for your house will consume me.” At this the Jews answered and said to him, “What sign can you show us for doing this?” 犹太人便追问他说:“你给我们显什么神迹,证明你有权柄作这些事?”Jesus answered and said to them, “Destroy this temple and in three days I will raise it up.” The Jews said, “This temple has been under construction for forty-six years, and you will raise it up in three days?” 犹太人就说:“这座圣殿建筑了四十六年,你在三天之内就会重建起它来吗?”But he was speaking about the temple of his body. Therefore, when he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this, and they came to believe the Scripture and the word Jesus had spoken. While he was in Jerusalem for the feast of Passover, many began to believe in his name when they saw the signs he was doing. But Jesus would not trust himself to them because he knew them all,耶稣却不信任他们,因为他认识众人;and did not need anyone to testify about human nature. He himself understood it well. ──The Gospel of the Lord基督的福音首先,让我们注意一下福音中几个单词的发音:Jerusalem [dʒə'ru:sələm] 耶路撒冷temple [ˈtemp(ə)l] 圣殿destroy [dɪ'strɔɪ] 毁坏,破坏construction [kən'strʌkʃ(ə)n] 建造scripture ['skrɪptʃər] 圣经,经文我们一起来聆听David老师对于这篇福音的理解:Blessed Sunday! My name is David Sherwood, I would like to focus on this sentence from the Gospel: “But he was speaking about the temple of his body.” We can look at this English word “temple” — In our language, we would not use the word in the way that St. John uses it here, of Jesus’ body. The word “temple” actually came from an ancient word for “cut lumber” and we still prefer to use this word of humanly built structures. In Greek, St. John had been using a word that more meant that God was indwelling here — and signified less about the building itself. This idea that the Body of Jesus is a temple, or the place of God’s indwelling, is of a dynamic value! The eternal Word has made Himself present in the fullness of His person in this individual man, instead of only being present in an immovable structure in Jerusalem. It is so very exciting that you all have decided to study both the English language and the Scriptures at once. I hope and pray that this method continues to move you all to a greater English ability but, more importantly, to a greater appreciation of the Scriptures. May you all be blest in the life of the Holy Trinity! Reader:David SherwoodHost: Sophie ChenDesigner: Rafaela ZhangProducer&Copy
A reading from the holy gospel according to St. Mark恭读圣马尔谷福音9:2-10 2 And after six days, Jesus took with him Peter and James and John, and led them up a high mountain apart by themselves; and he was transfigured before them, 3 and his garments became glistening, intensely white, as no fuller on earth could bleach them. 4 And there appeared to them Eli′jah with Moses, and they were talking to Jesus. 5 And Peter said to Jesus, “Master, it is well that we are here; let us make three booths, one for you and one for Moses and one for Eli′jah.” 6 For he did not know what to say, for they were exceedingly afraid. 7 And a cloud overshadowed them, and a voice came out of the cloud, “This is my beloved Son; listen to him.”当时,有一团云彩,遮蔽了他们,从云中有声音说:「这是我的爱子,你们要听从他!」8 And suddenly looking around they no longer saw anyone with them but Jesus only. 9 And as they were coming down the mountain, he charged them to tell no one what they had seen, until the Son of man should have risen from the dead. 10 So they kept the matter to themselves, questioning what the rising from the dead meant. ——The Gospel of the Lord基督的福音单词讲解transfigured  /trænsˈfɪɡjərd /  改换容貌,容光焕发(transfigure的过去分词和过去式)glistening /ˈɡlɪsnɪŋ/ 闪光、闪亮 (glisten的现在分词)appeared/əˈpɪrd/ 出现、显现(appear的过去分词和过去式)booths /buθs/ 摊位,小房间(根据语境译为帐篷)福音金句“This is my beloved Son; listen to him.”「这是我的爱子,你们要听从他!」 Hello there, my name is Shayne. I'm speaking from Ireland, it's a pleasure to be with you today. Today we are gonna have a look at the passage of the transfiguration. The important sentence I’d like to draw upon from today is the first sentence actually. And after six days Jesus took with him Peter and James and John, and led them up a high mountain apart by themselves;六天后耶稣带着伯多禄、雅各伯和若望,单独带领他们上了一座高山,and he was transfigured before them, and his garments became glistening, intensely white, as no fuller on earth could bleach them. So an interesting way here is the word “glistening”. So you pronounce it glistening, glistening. And “glistening”  means to shine brightly. An example of where you can use the word glistening as you’re at sea the water as glistening underneath the sun. 用glistening来举一个例子:the water as a glistening underneath the sun(如果你在海边,可以描述,水在太阳下闪闪发光)。 In the transfiguration, this is the second time in the gospel that all three members of the Holy Trinity have been revealed. God, the father, speaking as a voice; the Holy Spirit; And of course, Jesus is also present. And the Holy Trinity is a relationship, is a relationship of love, and we are called as Catholics to enter into this relationship, and we can look forward to partaking in this relationship in eternity and we can elevate ourselves towards the Holy Trinity through prayer. That's all I have for you today. Thank you so much for having me and keep active and keep up the good work, this is beneficial for you. Reader:Shayne TobiasHost: Theresa XueDesigner: Rosa WangProducer&Copyright: Deeratdawn@2021
A reading from the holy Gospel according to Mark恭读圣马尔谷福音1:12-15 The Spirit drove Jesus out into the desert,那时候,圣神催促耶稣到旷野去。and he remained in the desert for forty days,耶稣在旷野里,四十天之久,tempted by Satan. He was among wild beasts,与野兽在一起,and the angels ministered to him. After John had been arrested,若翰被监禁后,Jesus came to Galilee proclaiming the gospel of God:耶稣来到加里肋亚,宣讲天主的福音,说:“This is the time of fulfillment.“时期已满,The kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.” ——The Gospel of the Lord基督的福音  单词讲解 接下来让我们一起学习几个单词,以便更流利的诵读本周的福音。 “This is the time of fulfillment.“时期已满,The kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.” Repentance is the feeling of a person irritated with himself." Reader:Klára KubišováHost: August HuEditor:Missy ZhangProducer&Copyright: Deeratdawn@2021
A reading from the holy Gospel according to Mark恭读圣马尔谷福音  1:21-28 Then they came to Capernaum,耶稣和门徒进了葛法翁;and on the sabbath, Jesus entered the synagogue and taught. The people were astonished at his teaching,人人都惊奇他的教训,for he taught them as one having authority and not as the scribes. In their synagogue was a man with an unclean spirit;当时,在他们的会堂里,正有一个附邪魔的人,he cried out, “What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us?你竟来毁灭我们!I know who you are—the Holy One of God!” Jesus rebuked him and said,耶稣叱责他,说:“Quiet!  Come out of him!”“不准说话!从他身上出去吧!”The unclean spirit convulsed him and with a loud cry came out of him. All were amazed and asked one another,众人都十分惊讶,以致彼此询问说:“What is this?“这是怎么一回事?A new teaching with authority. He commands even the unclean spirits and they obey him.” His fame spread everywhere throughout the whole region of Galilee. ──The Gospel of the Lord Hello to everyone listening! This is Lizzy and I am from the United States. I hope that you enjoy this recording. We are going to look at a sentence from the Gospel:让我们一同来看福音中的一句话:The people were astonished at his teaching,人人都惊奇他的教训,for he taught them as one having authority and not as the scribes. The first difficult word we will look at is:Astonished我们要注意的第一个单词是:astonished To astonish means to surpass someone  意思是使… 理解、能力this word has 3 syllables, or parts, let’s say each part together slowly:这个单词由三个音节或部分组成,让我们慢读每一个音节:A-sto-nish-ed, Astonished The next word is: Authority authority is another word for power.authority是权力power的另一种说法This word has 4 syllables, let’s say them together slowly:该单词由四个音节组成,我们来逐一慢读Au-tho-ri-ty,Authority  The next word is: ScribesMen in ancient Israel who had studied a lot and knew the Law of the Bible very well. scribes经师,是古代学识渊博、精通圣经法律的以色列人。This word begins ’s’, ‘c’, and ‘r’; this can be difficult to pronounce, it is helpful to practice pronouncing just ‘sc’,  ‘sc’, ’sc’, ‘sc’ and then to pronounce the word:单词以“s”“c”和“r”开头,所以发音有些难度,我们可以先练习‘sc’组合的发音,即:  ‘sc’,  ’sc’,  ‘sc’,然后再读整个单词的发音,这样会有所帮助。 On the sabbath Jesus entered the synagogue and taught. The people were astonished at his teaching,人人都惊奇他的教训,for he taught them as one having authority and not as the scribes. In today’s Gospel Jesus expels a demon from a man and sets the man free because He loves him. Many times today we are tempted by demons to sin and many times we ourselves are stuck in sin. We can feel powerless, like the man in the Gospel. But Jesus is stronger than all the demons and than all our sins, and He loves us and He sets us free. So when you are tempted to sin, pray to Jesus and He will help you! Reader & Speaker: Elizabeth Ielmini (US)Host: August HuDesigner: Rosa WangProducer&Copyright: Deeratdawn@2021
A reading from the holy Gospel according to Mark恭读圣马尔谷福音 1:14-20After John had been arrested,若翰被监禁后,Jesus came to Galilee proclaiming the gospel of God:耶稣来到加里肋亚,宣讲天主的福音,说:“This is the time of fulfillment.“时期已满,The kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.”你们悔改,信从福音吧!”As he passed by the Sea of Galilee,当耶稣沿着加里肋亚海行走时,he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting their nets into the sea;看见西满和西满的兄弟安德肋,在海里撒网;they were fishermen. Jesus said to them,耶稣向他们说:“Come after me, and I will make you fishers of men.”“来跟随我! Then they abandoned their nets and followed him. He walked along a little farther耶稣向前行了不远,and saw James, the son of Zebedee, and his brother John. They too were in a boat mending their nets. Then he called them. So they left their father Zebedee in the boat他们就把自己的父亲载伯德和佣工们,撇在船上,along with the hired men and followed him. Hello, my name is Kathryn. And I live in the United States. Kathryn。I am glad to be with you today to read the gospel. One beautiful verse from this passage is,这篇福音中,优美的一段话是:Jesus said to them, “Come after me, and I will make you fishers of men.” Then they abandoned their nets and followed him. Abandoned means to let go, do not worry about. To be a Fisher of men means that Jesus is asking these men to stop their earthly work of catching fish from the sea, and instead, to go seek out men or men and women, to invite them to know Jesus. Jesus gives these fishermen the invitation: Come after me. Come be with me. And then I will make you or I will give you the grace to invite other people to also follow Jesus. These fishermen then have the choice to abandon or to leave behind their nets, their worldly concerns and to follow Jesus instead. And that's what they chose to do. That's what Jesus invites us to do today. I am so glad that you're participating in this podcast, and I encourage you to keep trying to follow Jesus to abandon your worries and to be his disciple, too. When he created things God commanded plants to bring forth their fruits, each one according to its kind, and in like manner he commands Christians, the living plants of his church, to bring forth the fruits of devotion, each according to his position and vocation。 Introduction of the devout life 第1卷 第3章 Devotion is possible in Every Vocation and Profession
Reading the Gospel with Foreigners A reading from the holy Gospel according to John 1:35-42John was standing with two of his disciples,那时候,若翰和他的两个门徒,站在那里;and as he watched Jesus walk by, he said,若翰看见耶稣走过,便注视着耶稣,说:“Behold, the Lamb of God.”“看,天主的羔羊!”The two disciples heard what he said and followed Jesus. Jesus turned and saw them following him and said to them,耶稣转过身来,看见他们跟着,便问他们说:“What are you looking for?”“你们找什么?”They said to him, “Rabbi” — which translated means Teacher —,他们回答说:“辣彼!──意即师父──“where are you staying?” 你住在那里?”He said to them, “Come, and you will see.”耶稣对他们说:“你们来看看吧!”So they went and saw where Jesus was staying,于是他们去了,看见了耶稣住的地方;and they stayed with him that day. It was about four in the afternoon. Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter,西满伯多禄的哥哥安德肋,was one of the two who heard John and followed Jesus. He first found his own brother Simon and told him,先去找到了自己的弟弟西满,并向他说:“We have found the Messiah” — which is translated Christ —.“我们找到了默西亚(意即基督)。”Then he brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said,耶稣注视着他,说:“You are Simon the son of John;“你是若望的儿子西满,you will be called Cephas” — which is translated Peter. —— 基督的福音Reader: Frankie Roskam (US)Host: August HuProducer&Copyright: Deeratdawn@2021第二部分 讲解Hello brothers and sisters.
