Today’s episode is all about the one pattern that I see all the time in people that is preventing them from becoming the person that they want to be. I talk to people all the time about change, and what I’m finding over and over again is that people can tell me everything they don't want in their lives, but they cannot clearly articulate to me what they do want in their life, how they want to feel, and what habits they want to adopt.
In this episode, we’ll discuss avoidance goals and the Core Four set of values to identify how we want to feel in our lives. If you need help figuring out how you want to feel, how your future self feels, what values your future self embodies, join us in Alliance Coaching!
Key Takeaways:
1:01 - Avoidance Goals
2:11 - How Do We Want to Feel?
2:56 - Core Four Set of Values

I have an exciting announcement! Today I made the decision to enroll in Alliance Coaching as a behavior change coaching client!
In today’s episode, I’ll be talking a little bit about what brought me to this decision, why I chose this, and hopefully give you some insight as to why people might choose to coach with us, and why someone might need or want a behavior change coach. I know that when shit hits the fan in a lot of areas, it’s hard for me to prioritize myself, but having a coach essentially holds me accountable to showing up for me.

Welcome to another Q&A episode of The Work Of Becoming podcast! The question we’re discussing on today’s episode is how to handle rest and overwork as an entrepreneur. I’ll debunk a few general ideas around overworking as well as discuss three things I think about in terms of rest and overwork as an entrepreneur.
If navigating rest and overwork while increasing your quality of work is something you want to work on, we work a lot with our clients in one-on-one coaching on this. If you are an entrepreneur and you have control over how much you work, I would encourage you to play with balance. It might very well be that when you work less you are actually a better version of you and your quality of work increases.
Key Takeaways:

2:16 - The Idea That More Work Equals More Results
4:11 - Don’t Forget Who You Are Outside of Your Work

I was really interested in this concept of Uplifts, and I recently started playing around with integrating more Uplifts into my routine. An uplift is a mindful moment of joy in your day. These Uplifts can deeply benefit us by protecting us from stress.
In today’s episode, we’ll be talking all about a daily walk as well as the psychological construct called Uplifts, and I’ll dive deeper into one of the main ways I have incorporated Uplifts into my daily life. We’ll talk about how outside exposure, a daily walk, Uplifts, and how all of these things put together can be transformative for our mental health.

Today’s episode is about a money mindset wobble that I had recently. At the beginning of the year, I decided that one of my financial goals was to save more money. In doing so, I started to feel all of this money scarcity, and scarcity, for me, creates anxiety, which makes me restrict spending. There was no room for me to spend for enjoyment or pleasure or because I wanted to or as a form of self-care, and so, as a result, I wasn't getting any joy.
In this episode, I’ll talk about the all or nothing mindset we can sometimes get when it comes to spending, the importance of budgeting to care for ourselves, and why support is needed to navigate the money mindset wobble we can sometimes find ourselves in. I hope you walk away from this episode considering where you're at with your own spending and your own budget and that you allow yourself enough money to support your life so you can be the best version of yourself.
Key Takeaways:
1:53 - All or Nothing Mindset
3:35 - Budgeting to Care for Ourselves
4:28 - Giving Yourself Support

Today’s episode is a Q&A episode where I answer a question that one of you submitted. The question that was asked for today’s episode is one that I get all of the time: “Do you have any tips or tricks to become tidy?” I’ll be talking about how people approach learning to become tidy, how we can prevent the mess in the first place, and how we can learn to change our mindset and/or behavior so it’s not that we have to be tidier people, but everything is tidier to begin with because we are less messy.
If you have questions that you want me to address on the podcast, every five episodes I do a Q&A episode where I answer a question from one of you. Submit your question below for a chance to have it answered on the podcast!

I was reflecting back on a client that I worked with at the very beginning of Alliance Coaching who claimed she had, what she called, a huge procrastination problem. She essentially would guilt herself because of procrastination and ended up with procrasti-guilt.
In this episode, we’ll be talking about how procrastination drives more self-judgment than necessary and how the sooner we accept our procrastination the better because it’ll always be a part of us humans. Procrastination is the number one thing we work with clients on in coaching, so if you want to work on this yourself, go to www.bodybrainalliance.com/coaching to learn more about our program!

I recently had a post about my personal boundaries when it comes to the DMs do really well. It got a bunch of shares, and it was very supported, but people started to comment on it and say very negative things about me. Needless to say, I did a lot of crying in my car, and I was really upset. Every single part of me wanted to hide, self-soothe, and numb out.
In this episode, I’ll be sharing with you what I did to avoid turning to emotional eating to soothe myself at this moment of sadness. I’ll also go into the importance of letting our feelings flow through us, the benefits of reframing what’s happening when we’re having a bad day, and how to save ourselves from the fuck-its to live into a more empowered version of ourselves. It’s never too late to turn your bad days around with the things you actually need.

When I was early on in my business, going viral was the dream. It was the thing I wanted. Every single time I put a reel together that was awesome, I thought, “Ooh, maybe this will go viral!” If you're out there, you might be thinking that too. However, it’s not all it’s cracked up to be.
In today’s episode, I’ll tell you the two reasons why I hate going viral. I recently had a reel go viral on Instagram, and this is the most viral I’ve ever gone. I’ll share with you two reasons why I don’t like going viral, and I hope you walk away from this episode knowing that you don't need to go viral in order to have a successful business.

This episode is the first of a Q&A series! In the show notes, I have now linked a form that you can fill out. So, if you have questions about anything that I’ve mentioned on the podcast or, essentially, if you have requests of things you want me to cover in future episodes, you can submit that form, and at least once a month I’m gonna do at least one episode where I come in and I talk through some of those Q+A questions.
In today’s episode, our first question is from S about 50/50 habits. We’ll discuss 50/50 habits, how to track in a healthy way, and what to do when faced with a 50/50 habit. Please submit your question to the form below to have it answered in future Q&A episodes!

Today, we’ll be talking about periods, and not in a cycle-syncing type of way. This episode is going to be about cycle awareness. Part of the reason why I’ve self-identified as a tornado girl before is literally because of these changes that I experience based on where I’m at in my menstrual cycle. The number one thing (and the thing that I want to talk about in this episode) that has helped me with that, from a behavior change perspective, is simple awareness.
In today’s episode, I’ll be sharing a bit about cycle syncing versus cycle awareness, why I created a note in the Notes app on my phone to track various symptoms at the different points of my cycle, and the moment I caught myself and shifted my awareness to change my behavior based upon where I was at. I hope this episode serves as a reminder that if you are a period-having person, you may experience different behavior change tendencies or symptoms during different parts of your cycle.
Key Takeaways:
1:39 - Cycle Awareness
3:52 - Symptoms at Each Point of my Cycle Note

Many of us tend to shit on external accountability. We’re like, “Oh, I want to hold myself accountable. I want to be internally accountable.” Self-accountability is absolutely a thing that we need as humans, but there is nothing wrong with bringing in external accountability to your life when you need that type of support.
In the past couple episodes, I talked a lot about my new routine, why I implemented it, and what I changed, and now, I want to talk about my plan for keeping it going, and how I have stayed diligent and dedicated to this routine thus far. In this episode, I’ll be talking about three types of external accountability that I’m utilizing in order to stick with this routine: community accountability, financial accountability, and emotional accountability.
If you're looking for a place to have a little bit more community accountability and be around other people who are engaging in change, join us in Change Academy. This month, our workshop is all about how to create an effective workout routine, and I hope to see you in there!
Key Takeaways:
1:37 - First External Accountability Source: Community (Team) Accountability
3:25 - Second External Accountability Source: Financial Accountability

In today’s episode, we’ll be talking about three habit stacks that I’ve integrated within my new routine and why I made those choices. I’ll share three examples of effective habit stacks that I have integrated within my routine: meditating after my workout at the gym, walking my dog when I get home from WeWork, and drinking half a bottle of water before coffee in the morning.
If you want to know my perspective on habit stacks, and if you want more in-depth information about how to create them correctly, join us in Change Academy! In this month’s workshop inside of Change Academy, we’re focusing on how to become a frequent exerciser, and so, as part of the workshop, we are going to cover effective habit stack formation.

This episode is a very personal, vulnerable story about the past couple of years. My life had shifted so drastically during the pandemic, and I transitioned to working from home, started my business, and finished my PhD all remotely. I had no idea the impact that that was having on my mental health. When we started to come out of it, I felt like I didn't have anything to return to.
In today’s episode, I’ll be sharing a bit about my journey over the past few years, how not leaving my house was lowkey negatively impacting my mental health, and how getting a WeWork all-access membership has shifted my work/life balance for the better. I would encourage you to think about the ways your environment impacts how you deal with stress and your ability to be resilient and see if that sparks any areas where you can make changes for yourself!
Key Takeaways:
0:53 - Transition From Commuting to Remote Work
2:59 - I Wasn’t Leaving My House
4:26 - Transitioning to WeWork

People who exercise and move on a regular basis tend to have lower stress levels and tend to cope with the stress that they are experiencing a lot better. The routine that I’ll be sharing with you about today is a shift that I made from working out three-ish times per week to going to the gym six days per week. Exercise is one of the best ways to ease yourself out of go mode and to give yourself a place to redirect all of that energy that would kind of just spiral around in your brain like an angsty hamster if you didn't have somewhere to put it.
In today’s episode, I’ll be talking about my own workout resistance, the benefits of pairing structure with flexibility, and why I might encourage you to consider playing around with what alternate workout routines might look like for you.
Our Change Academy theme this month is about how to become a frequent exerciser. So, if you want to learn how to get to the gym on a regular basis, and if you want to learn the tools that I am using, that I have used in the past three weeks to go from a spotty three days at the gym to a consistent six days at the gym every week, join us Change Academy this month!
Trigger Warning: If you are a person who’s really struggling with working out too much, over-exercising, not taking rest days, please go ahead and skip this episode as it may be triggering for you.
Key Takeaways:
1:18 - My Workout Resistance
3:01 - Structure Paired With Flexibility
4:45 - My Brain Leans Towards Over-Rest

I had reached a point where I was waking up in the morning and opening Instagram before I was even consciously aware of what I was doing. I realized that the more I looked at Instagram and got lost in my online world, the less present I was in my life. In today’s episode, we are going to talk about the first change that I made in order to cultivate a routine that was more focused on resilience and stress management: I went on a 30-day social media detox.
In the episode, I’ll talk about why I quit social media for 30 days as a way to free up resources, challenge a limiting belief, and force presence. We’ll discuss a pattern I often see in clients, how social media pulls us away from our own lives, and the importance of facing the music of our own mental monologues.
Join us in Change Academy if you want to learn more about the benefits that I experienced during this process!

0:53 - Importance of Deprioritization
2:20 - Giving Up Socials Forces Presence
