Gude und Dober Dan! Herzlich willkommen zu dieser Folge von Global Village 069 – Die Welt zu Hause in Frankfurt.

Slowenien ist ein kleines Land, dessen Sprache weltweit nur etwa 2,5 Millionen Menschen sprechen. Dementsprechend wissen die meisten nur sehr wenig über die kleine Nation am nördlichen Rand des Balkans. Höchste Zeit, das zu ändern. Denn Slowenien ist ein Paradies für alle, die unberührte Natur, gastfreundliche Menschen, romantische Städte, ausgedehnte Kaffeepausen und – vor allem – gute Bücher lieben. Und das dürfte so ziemlich auf uns alle zutreffen. :)

Zum Glück gibt es Sava e.V., den slowenischen Kultur- und Bildungsverein in Frankfurt. Mitten in Fechenheim bildet er einen Anlaufpunkt in unserer Stadt für alle, die sich für Land und Leute interessieren. Gerade in diesem Jahr hat der Verein alle Hände voll zu tun, denn Slowenien ist Ehrengast der Frankfurter Buchmesse 2023 (18.-22.10.). Die wundervolle Tanja Geike aus dem Vorstand hat trotzdem Zeit gefunden, mit mir über die Arbeit von Sava e.V., den Zauber der slowenischen Kultur und das besondere Verhältnis der Menschen dort zur Literatur zu sprechen.

10 – BOOK FAIR SPECIAL – Slovenia in Frankfurt with Tanja Geike from Sava e.V.

Gude and Dober Dan! Welcome to this episode of Global Village 069 - The World at Home in Frankfurt!

Slovenia is a small country whose language is spoken by only about 2.5 million people worldwide. So, it’s not a big surprise that most of us know very little about the small nation on the northern edge of the Balkans. High time to change that. Because Slovenia is a paradise for anyone who loves unspoiled nature, hospitable people, romantic towns, extended coffee breaks and – above all – good books. And that should pretty much apply to all of us. :)

Good thing there is Sava e.V., the Slovenian cultural and educational association in Frankfurt. Located in the heart of Fechenheim, it is a focal point in our city for anyone interested in the country and its people. This year in particular, the association is BUSY because Slovenia is the Guest of Honor at the Frankfurt Book Fair 2023 (18-22 October). Nevertheless, the lovely Tanja Geike from the board found time to talk to me about the work of Sava e.V., the magic of Slovenian culture and the special relationship of its people to literature.
