Feminist icon Betty Friedan once wrote, “No woman gets an orgasm from shining the kitchen floor,” which actually strummed a chord with me.
Yes sure, the kitchen floor needs to be shined, but does it actually have to be cleaned and shined solely by women? And the fact that this quote exists is a mere indication that society is still placing gender roles on women… the home maker, the mother, the carer. As a cis-gendered heterosexual woman, Anna is proud to be the fairer sex, but that doesn’t mean that she should be on her knees day in and day out, to clean the floor... or to pleasure her partner?
