Gude und Pryvit! Herzlich willkommen zu dieser Folge von Global Village 069 – Die Welt zu Hause in Frankfurt, dem Podcast, der die internationale Vielfalt von Frankfurt am Main zelebriert.

Das Ukrainian Coordination Center e.V. (oder kurz UCC) hat seit März 2020 zehntausenden ukrainischen Geflüchteten geholfen, in Frankfurt und Hessen anzukommen. Das vielfältige Angebot – von Jobberatung über Deutschkurse bis hin zu einem Kinderchor – wird komplett von Freiwilligen gestemmt.

Eine von ihnen ist die junge Studentin Olena Levchenko, die mit ihrer Familie aus Kiew nach Frankfurt gekommen ist. In unserem Gespräch berichtet sie von der beeindruckenden Arbeit des UCC und darüber und teilt ihre persönliche Geschichte. Ich sage ehrlich: Die Stärke und das Engagement von Olena und den anderen Freiwilligen haben mich tief berührt.

20 – Ukraine in Frankfurt - helping people to help themselves, with Olena Levchenko from the Ukrainian Coordination Center e.V.

Gude and Pryvit! Welcome to this episode of Global Village 069 - The World at Home in Frankfurt, the podcast celebrating the international diversity of Frankfurt am Main.

The Ukrainian Coordination Center e.V. (or UCC for short) has helped tens of thousands of Ukrainian refugees to arrive in Frankfurt and Hesse since March 2020. The wide range of services - from job advice and German courses to a children's choir - are run entirely by volunteers.

One of them is the young student Olena Levchenko, who came to Frankfurt from Kiev with her family. In our interview, she talks about the impressive work of the UCC and shares her personal story. I'll be honest: I was deeply touched by the strength and commitment of Olena and the other volunteers.
