Description

a raw, unfiltered description of what an emotional flashback feels like

most people don't know what emotional flashbacks are, yet I see them happening all around me

most people have never even heard of Comlex-PTSD, but I believe that it's one of the most common conditions out there

this is for all the people who feel small, vulnerable, and confused. for the people who don't believe they have any reason to feel this way. you will know in your heart if this resonates with you - try not to go down the rabbit hole of invalidating yourself..

"my childhood was perfect, how dare I feel like this?"

"there are so many people out there that have it worse than me"

"I love my parents and they love me - how could they ever have hurt me?"

if you do resonate, despite these voices in your head invalidating you, I encourage you to seek help from a professional who can help you unpack it. if you're not ready to do that yet, perhaps listening to more of people's personal experiences may help you feel validated and seen. I still have that voice in my head on the daily telling me I have nothing to complain about - that I am ungrateful. but that's the trauma talking. that's what C-PTSD does. it undermines your experiences and tells you to suck it up - so I'm here to remind you that we can start standing up to it and get the help that we deserve.

some audiobooks that really helped me validate my less obvious childhood traumas are:

  • Complex PTSD by Pete Walker
  • Running on Empty by Jonice Webb
  • Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents by Lindsay C. Gibson
