Commentary: Washington Should Trust Tennessee to Regulate Its Own Games
Update: 2025-11-11
Description
When Tennessee’s legislature voted to bring sports betting to our state, we did it the right way. We debated it, we put guardrails around it, and we built a system that works. Importantly, Tennesseans made that choice, not Washington bureaucrats. And it’s been a success.
That’s why it’s infuriating to see federal regulators circling now, acting like they need to “fix” something that isn’t broken. We don’t need Washington deciding what counts as a game or who can play. We already figured that out back in 2019, and we’ve been running a clean, transparent operation ever since.
