Grief Shaming: Silence & Judgement
Description
Shannon Miller is a traumatic grief survivor. Five years ago her 23 year old daughter was murdered. Through her grief journey Shannon has felt shame and guilt from others who thought she wasn't grieving the right way, and she also felt shame and guilt from herself for not somehow preventing her daughter's murder.
Shannon has faced the shame and guilt head on and today works with others to show them that there is no purpose to these feelings and that it is okay to release them and live a life of truth and happiness.
Shannon and I talk about:
- The very individual process of grieving
- How, as a society, we are taught that we can grieve too long
- How the people in our lives can be uncomfortable with our grief
