Motor Trend - Wrangler 4xe Fire Recall Risk

The Jeep Wrangler 4xe recall for 2021 to 2023 models.

PHEVs need to be parked outside until the vehicle is fixed by their dealers.

exact root of the problem hasn't been identified with, but it has to do with a fault in the high-voltage battery of the 4xe, and it's known that it can cause a fire.

The build range of affected vehicles is from September 18, 2020, through March 22, 2023. The battery cells that are suspect were built between January 21, 2021 and October 2, 2021.

The good news is that these cells were only used on Wrangler 4xe PHEVs, and no other Jeep 4xe or hybrid vehicles manufactured by Stellantis have been issued a recall notice for a similar issue.

For now, the NHTSA and Jeep are advising owners of 2021 to 2023 Jeep Wrangler 4xe PHEVs to park outside and not to charge these vehicles until a fix is made

only two Wrangler 4xe SUVs have been lost due to fire starting at the high-voltage battery. Stellantis and the NHTSA are unaware of any other fires due to the faulty cell, so the advice is precautionary but highly advised until the fault is identified.

For now, Jeep will perform a software flash on the high-voltage battery pack on these affected Wrangler 4xe PHEVs.

This new software looks for any faults in the battery pack and, if a DTC is set, the entire pack will be replaced by Stellantis at no charge to the customer.

If you've had a battery pack replaced or repaired related to the issue (minus the fire) and had to pay for it out-of-pocket, you may be entitled to reimbursement from Stellantis due to this recall.

Notices of the recall will be sent to all owners of affected Wrangler 4xe PHEVs on January 11, 2024, with dealers receiving the same notice on or about that same time.

Car Buzz - Scout to Arrive Sooner Than We Thought

The revived Scout brand has confirmed that its first model will debut in Q3 2024

SUV, followed by a truck

Since Scout was iconically a rugged SUV brand, that's what we'll bring to life first," he clarified. "Scout did do a pickup truck and we'll launch that, let's say, six, seven months after."

Keogh also confirmed Magna Steyr's involvement in developing the Scout EVs. However, he doubled down that production would be in America,
