By Newsbreak Producer, Genevieve Lanka - A time of reflection and prayer for the Ahmed Timol family, as today marks the 50th anniversary of the death of the anti-apartheid activist in police custody. As part of the commemoration, the Timol family together with UN Human Rights Commission Chair Yasmin Sooka and the Ahmed Kathrada Foundation laid wreaths at his grave at the Roodepoort Muslim Cemetery in Creswell Park, Johannesburg. Timol was killed in detention on this day in 1971. His body was thrown out of a window on the 10th floor of John Vorster Square Police Station, which is now the Johannesburg Central Police Station.
