By Newsbreak Producer, Genevieve Lanka - The date for former president Jacob Zuma's trial in his corruption case has been set for April the 11th next year in the High Court in Pietermaritzburg. The announcement of the date comes after Judge Piet Koen dismissed Zuma's special plea application for the recusal of State prosecutor Advocate Billy Downer. The application was part of the special plea Zuma had entered in the corruption case against him. Zuma and French arms company Thales are facing charges of corruption, racketeering and money laundering in connection with South Africa's multi-billion-rand arms deal in the 90's. Legal expert, Doctor Llewelyn Curlewis says while Zuma's legal team does have the option to appeal the ruling, it is unlikely that it will be granted.
