Description

Former Royal Marine talks to Recovery Road about his own mental health problems after leaving the marines and losing friends to suicide.
Veteran Rob Vickers set up the Gym Self Harmers Club online to create a community for anyone wanting to use fitness and excersise as a way of recovering from mental illness and managing their mental heath.
We talk all things PTSD, trauma, bereavement and most of all staying motivated no matter what her situation.

Rob said: "I’ve seen many friends now end their own lives due to issues from serving mainly. "This coupled with my own mental health battles and others with issues around me, made me want to try and do more to help people in need.

"Issues from serving and losing friends added up and finally got on top of me. I lost my mum and my entire world came tumbling down around me. I needed help so reached out and got it.

"By never quitting. If something becomes an impossibility. Find another way to make it work so it becomes possible again."
