WRITING THERAPY & BECOMING AN AUTHOR TO HELP MENTAL HEALTH
Description
Writing can be beneficial for all of us, as a form of therapy. One of the most powerful parts of therapy is cultivating the ability to observe our thoughts and feelings. Talking is great but can be unpredictable like a kite in the wind. Whereas writing is a small movement which can help you order your thoughts a bit more like a train track, especially when it comes to solving a problem to help to keep you stable.
But what about writing as a profession? In this episode of #RecoveryRoad I talk to fellow journalists Nik Farah. and Rochelle Malise who candidly share how they use writing during personal challenges to help their own mental health (such as free writing, letter writing and poetry) as well as sharing what it's like keeping mentally as well as possible as a journalist, how they try and cover mental health issues in their reporting and how to become a published writer... as we all have a story that needs to be told.
