Some Thoughts on Vitamin D Dosing and Side Effects for Cancer Prevention, Treatment and Recurrence...
Description
* Vitamin D is a critical nutrient/hormone in the prevention, treatment and recurrence prevention of colorectal cancer.
* Public health officials usually recommend vitamin D levels of 30-40 ng/ml for prevention (2000 IU/d).
* Possibly a level of 30-50 ng/ml for treatment and prevention of recurrence (4000 IU/d).
* An upper limit of 4000 IU/d for vitamin D supplementation is recommended by public health officials for cancer and chronic disease prevention.
* 100 ng/ml of vitamin D3 or above is considered a toxic range of vitamin D though clinical experience shows toxicity symptoms rarely happens.
* Experienced clinicians routinely use between 5000-10,000 IU/d attempting to get into the range of 50-75 ng/ml and rarely see levels in the 100 ng/ml range.
* Vitamin D toxicity is rare and can be avoided using doses as high as 5000-10,000 IU/d insuring safety by drawing a vitamin D level one month after dosing at these levels and then 2-3 times per year.
