Great ride, interesting twists and turns keep coming
This is my first Andre Norton book, and I really liked it. A seemingly straight forward partnership launches the tale, Hume wants a little payback, and Wass wants a reasonable, if illegal, profit. As they set their plan in motion, and the story unfolds, all of the characters are reminded of the many perils of new frontiers.
Vye was an intriguing character, as he wrestles with the situation June and Wass' plot places him in. He comes to learn a lot about himself on this adventure, and so much of it is shown beautifully to us as readers. We have the chance to watch him make tough calls, and grow as a character. By the time the book was coming to a close I was hoping Hume and The would have another adventure / book.

One of Norton best even if it is one of her oldest. I enjoyed reading it. Missed this one years ago

A Young Adult Winner from long ago
From an era when the good guys were really good, and the bad guys were...well, the opposite. Adventure, honor, duty, finding out how to interact in society---all the same concerns that crop up now in YA writings, except without sex! Andre Norton wrote many books, and with a very high level of consistent quality. Give an adolescent reader a shot at one of them, they are still enjoyable.

Fast entertaining space yarn
norton has another good solid read. familiar tropes combined in a new way, the hardened space explorer, the orphan street kid with nothing to loose, the shadowy criminals, the aliens. and several unexpected twists.

A conspiracy within a conspiracy.
This is a straightforward story in which you think one thing is happening and then another thing happens via a plot twist written in in the last chapter ! It was short enough to keep the reader interested.
i don't want to give too much away since this is a conspiracy - if i revealed the storyline, then there would be no mystery and intrigue.
Try this. It'll take you six hours tops to read.
