Description

Welcome back to Every Day Tarot. This season is all about tarot and crystals, and today we’re exploring the fiery energy of carnelian.

Known as the “blood of Isis,” carnelian has long been a stone of courage, vitality, and transformation. It offers protection, empowerment, and support through life’s transitions—reminding us that endings and beginnings are always intertwined.

In this episode, we explore carnelian’s myths, magical correspondences, and its resonance with tarot archetypes of intuition, action, and renewal.

What we explore in this episode:

  • The myths and magical qualities of carnelian

  • Astrological associations with Sun, Mars, and Aries

Carnelian: Myth, Magic & MeaningFor thousands of years, carnelian has been prized as a stone of vitality and courage. Its vibrant shades of red, orange, and amber come from iron oxide. Ancient healers used it to dissipate anger, ease fear, and bolster strength.

In ancient Egypt, it was known as the “blood of Isis” and carved into protective amulets placed with the dead to guide them through the underworld. In medieval Europe, it was worn to ease fear, calm anger, and inspire bravery. Across cultures, the fiery stone has been linked to healing, empowerment, and action.

In magical practice, carnelian is often used to:

  • Spark courage and motivation

  • Release fear during times of transition

  • Support healing and forgiveness

  • Empower creativity and bold action

It is an element of Fire, aligned with Mars, the Sun, and Aries, and carries archetypes of the Mother, the Mistress of Magic, and the Fierce Protectress. Carnelian is a stone that both holds and pushes, nurturing while also urging us to act.

Carnelian & the Tarot

Carnelian carries the spark of fire, echoing tarot archetypes that call us into courage and transformation. It mirrors The High Priestess, who parts the veil of mystery and reminds us to trust our inner knowing. It resonates with The Chariot, urging forward movement with confidence and determination. And it connects to Judgment, the moment of release and rebirth that clears space for renewal. Together, these cards reflect Carnelian’s essence: a stone of courage, intuition, and action.

💭 Today's Tarot Pull:

From Norse Goddess Rune Oracle by Rebecca Joy Stark and illustrated by Sharon McLeod, I pulled the Elli Crone, Stagnation, and Lack of Growth

A pause before renewal. This card invites honest acknowledgement of what has stopped growing, so you can release it with wisdom. Letting go of what’s stagnant so new vitality can take root.

Reflective prompts on this card:

  • What needs releasing so your energy can return to flow?

  • How can you honor this transition as sacred, not a setback?

  • Which courageous step would help you move from pause to renewal?
