Frequently Asked Questions: Tarot, Witchcraft, & Divination

Welcome to Season 14 of Every Day Tarot! This season, I’m answering your most frequently asked questions about tarot, witchcraft, and divination.

Today’s question: How do I ask my therapist to use tarot?

Tarot can be a powerful ally in the therapy room. In this episode, I share exactly how to bring it up with your therapist, what to say, how to find tarot-friendly providers, and what to do if your therapist isn’t a reader (but is open to your deck).

What we explore in this episode:

  • Simple language to introduce tarot to your therapist (without awkwardness)

  • What to look for in therapist bios/directories to find tarot-friendly providers

  • Ways to use tarot in session, even if your therapist doesn’t read cards

How to Ask Your Therapist to Use TarotFor many witchy, spiritual, or tarot-loving folks, therapy can feel like a place where we have to leave part of ourselves at the door. But what if the very tools that ground you—like tarot—could also be part of your healing journey in therapy?

Tarot cards can serve as a mirror, sparking conversation about feelings, fears, or desires that may be difficult to put into words. Even if your therapist isn’t a tarot reader, they can still support you. Similar to art therapy, tarot provides the picture, you provide the meaning, while you and your therapist work together to unpack it

💜 Finding tarot-friendly therapists, pro tip!

Search bios for spiritual, holistic, creative arts, narrative, witchy, tarot-friendly. On directories (e.g., Psychology Today), filter by “spiritual” or “other” under orientation, then ask in a free consultation.

💭 Today's Tarot Pull:

From Therapists Who Tarot Deck, Prompts by Dreya Blume and Images by Rebecca Bloom, I pulled the Ace of Spirals & Three of Spirals (Upright).

Plant the seed, not the perfect plan. Name what you want to manifest and release perfectionism so your practice can actually begin.

Reflective prompts on this card:

  • What do I hope tarot supports in therapy right now (clarity, emotion access, values, decisions)?

  • Which sentence from the scripts above feels most natural for me to use this week?

  • Where is perfectionism stopping me from asking for what I need in my healing?
