Description
The best way to become a confident, effective public speaker, according to the author is simply to do it.
Practice, practice, practice. And while you're at it, assume the positive. Have something to say. Forget the self. Cast out fear. Be absorbed by your subject. And most importantly, expect success. "If you believe you will fail," "there is hope for you. You will." Says the author
The Art Of Public Speaking
7 Lessons from the book “ The Art Of Public Speaking ”
1) Conversational Hints
Choose some subject that will prove of general interest to the whole group. Do not explain the mechanism of a gas engine at an afternoon tea or the culture of hollyhocks at a stag party.
A few notes:
- Be genuine interested in the audience
- Converse to the audience: a talk given in a natural and conversational manner will enter the audience's mind more easily.
- Do not memorize the talk, instead, write down what you want to convey and express your points during the speech
- Be confident, be the expert that youare
- Be passionate about the topic
- Use visualization techniques and figurative words
- Focus on only a few key points (people have short attention span)
