Christmas is when we celebrate the most incredible gift that mankind has ever known—the gift of Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world. The truth is Jesus Christ is the anointed Son of God. “For the grace of God has appeared bringing salvation to all people” (Titus 2:11 ). A wish for a Merry Christmas should be a wish for all to know the joy of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. “Seek ye the Lord” (Is 55:6). The Messiah had come and the shepherds made the issue of salvation very clear. “He that believes on the Son has everlasting life” (John 3:36 ). Jesus Christ was born for one purpose—to die on the cross so that through Him we have everlasting life. From the beginning of His earthly life, He was identified with death. The shadow of the cross loomed over Him His entire life because at that moment God proclaimed to the world that the death of Jesus Christ, His Son, was even more significant than His life.
