The film aimed to offer a deeper, more meaningful look at the legendary character Mufasa: the lion king. But what unfolds is an unpleasant, lifeless movie that embodies everything that's wrong with modern blockbuster filmmaking: an overreliance on photorealistic animation, a convoluted plot without substance, and a blatant attempt to exploit nostalgia for financial gain. As seen in the 2019 remake of The Lion King, photorealistic animation remains technically impressive but emotionally sluggish. Every fur, every ripple of water, every blade of grass is meticulously depicted, yet the characters lack the expressiveness necessary to resonate with the audience.
