As outstanding as the lakes rivers and streams are in and around Michigan, there are some fish species that were at one time flourishing that no longer are here. One in particular is the Arctic Grayling which ceased around the 1920's in Michigan. Listen Saturday at 9AM as Rick Preuss from Preuss Pets, Doctor Will Schultz, DVM (retired) and Lee Cohen discuss the upcoming attempt to repopulate the species with Ed Eisch from the Michigan DNR. Despite several attempts to repopulate them, you'll hear how and why DNR is attempting to repopulate them as well as trout, salmon and other fish that makes Michigan such a prize for people who fish. Then Steve Oberg from Preuss Pets joins the conversation to share the newest information from the Salmon in the Classroom projects that continue to happen throughout Michigan schools. Learn how children are raising and caring for Salmon in the class until they are ready to be transplanted to a designated body of water. It's great stuff going on that you will hear about if you tune into this weekend's edition of the Mid Michigan Pet Expert Talk Show - 1320 WILS on the radio
