Description
a conversation with Allen Chartier, the Michigan Hummingbird Guy! - Hummingbirds are fascinating characters in nature. Small, colorful and fast. Their wings move so fast they create the humming sound that is distinct. If you have prepared a feeder properly, you will usually find it visited from "regular" visitors who will seek out the nectar source you provide. But more is going on then you may know! Listen Saturday at 9AM when Doctor Will Schultz, DVM (retired) and Lee Cohen have a conversation with Allen Chartier, the Michigan Hummingbird Guy! Allen has specialized certification which allows him to band thousands of hummingbirds, and has done so every year since 2000. Allen is also certified to do songbird banding but is exclusive in Michigan and other midwest states for Hummingbirds. How many varieties are in Michigan? When do they arrive in Michigan and when do they leave? How do you band them? How long do they live? What does it mean when they fly in a u shaped pattern by the feeder? It might not be what you think!! If you have seen hummingbirds and watched them fly and eat, you will become fascinated with them and likely begin trying to attract them. Meantime, listen to one of the smartest guys in the state of Michigan on the subject of hummingbirds on this weekend's edition of the Mid Michigan Pet Expert Talk Show - 1320 WILS on the radio
