WHEN JESUS ASKS THE QUESTION "What good is it to gain the whole world but lose your soul?"

Today’s question is very good, but we could say this for every question, right? Does Jesus ever ask bad questions? We would say “bad” because we do not like what we are being asked. This one is important for non-believers and believers alike. The world and the things of the world will not last into eternity. It is pointless to work so hard to gain temporary things and forget your very soul. So, you may ask how does this apply to the Christian? Even as a Christian, we can forget that Jesus told us to lay up “treasures in Heaven” and start to focus more on what we are building here. Even pastors can forget this and start to look at their church like a mini kingdom that they are building and forgetting that the church belongs to Christ. All this to say that if we are not careful, pride in our own abilities can sneak back in, shifting our focus back onto what we can build and forgetting that all that we do should be to God’s glory and not our own. I have said a lot for sure, but let’s sum it up in this. Who are you living for: yourself or for Jesus? Are you building your kingdom, or His? If you put everything into this life, and forget to build into the Kingdom of Heaven, you will lose.
