This short meditaion practice will achieve the following ..(so long as you practice it Once a day.)To bring the mind back home... to have your focus of attention FOCUSED in this present moment is the first step in becoming more mindful in your daily life. They say that Goldfish  now have a longer attention span than most human beings.... GO Go Goldlfish.... so practicing to hold your focus is very important. Secondly, hold this focus of attention in the present moment. DON'T let your mind wander, no daydreaming, no rumination, no thinking on the past or the future, not on hopes or fears , just here and now. and DON'T Judge . that means no anylitical thinking, no evalutations no being clever, no assessing just hang out in the moment . Good luck.... just do it!!For more talks and practices please go to https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCecl2nm11ZKhsLn0NwEQAUgand check out the mindfulness channel.stay safeHuw

Colin has just finished an 8 week MBSR mindfulness course and he shares his views on what he felt about the course and how he found it and what he gained from it.
If you enjoyed the intro talk then try the Meditation for the journey to Happiness and Contentment  #85 also try seeing it on video at https://youtu.be/SJabrFyrmSgHappiness can come very much from positive psychology and positive thinking. As Shawn Achor says in his happiness advantage book, and on YouTube TED Talk, he says if we do just 4 use the simple things every day if we make one random act of kindness, if we do some meditation and sitting, if we have 3 positive thoughts of gratitude if we do some exercise, and before we go to bed at night the journal of positive experience a happy experience, 28 days we change our lives we will build a positive attitude and outlook in life. Happiness is influenced when things are going well. Sadness comes when we feel we have a sense of loss. On the most superficial level, we find happiness in the positive and sadness and loss in the negative. If we are not careful we are like a rudderless boat in a rough sea, being tossed around by circumstance and chance. Mindfulness helps us to gain a rudder and the sail, so that we can cross the oceans with a deep sense of purpose and direction. And as we sit and delve more deeply into ourselves through meditation so we find our compass, our purpose, our journey through this life. When we sit and watch the clouds, when we watch the wind bend the branches in the tree twist the leaves we are watching our lives. Nothing is ever static, everything changes and moves, and happiness contentment and fulfilment comes from changing and moving with this life around us. Two things in life we can be assured of. 1, life is not a straight line. 2, everything always changes and nothing ever stays the same. Once we learn to dance with these laws of life, happiness becomes more real and deep within us. For the meditation is like a key to the doorway to the sacredness of our life it leads us to our senses, it leads us down can out into the spaciousness of now, well with clarity and intention we can discern effortlessly our path before us. Not by trying or owning, not by control or manipulation, put through listening and being trusting and acting from our hearts. But for those of us who find it difficult to know the difference between the media-generated self and the authentic deep self then the journey can be very challenging. However this path is open to everybody, it is one of life's opportunities, to find that happiness and well-being and sense of purpose, which is always available to us will we stop and listen to our sacred selves. I urge you to find time every day to stand back from the fear-driven desperation of trying to succeed in this transient life of ours. As you stand back to stop and listen to yourself and all that is around you. And find that peace of mind, gentleness and happiness is already present within you. Mindfulness and meditation are not anything, but just a prospective a state of mind, a view. When we stop our clever minds and open our conscious present moment, we will find all we have been looking for, but all there is at any time is the present moment. There is no future. For the future becomes the present moment, learn to live in the present moment and you are living in your future. Take some time today to do nothing on purpose.

Join me in personal 1:1 focused sessions where you will learn to transform your core thoughts and feelings. 1:1 ZOOM appointment Call / TXT Huw 07787870841 huw@mindfulnessbath.co.ukOften I use the word change as to the effects that mindfulness can bring to you.On reflection, I think it's not so much a change, it's more just being. Mindfulness releases you, within you which has always been there.  In practising mindfulness we do not try, it is not the use of a clever mind, the intellectual mind, the mind which is attempting to be something else. No, the mindfulness mind is the mind which is already there, within you. It is the consciousness, the Conscious awareness of just being present. If only it were that simple. Buddha said that with our thoughts so we create our world. If you consider this quote, you realise how we set ourselves up, convince ourselves with our own thinking patterns. These patterns become fixed and soli as cornerstones of our reality, in the external world for all and any real change in our lives. Goals and desires and wants and needs for the new house, new car, new shoes, new partner, all will bring temporary pleasure which inevitably will be discarded and then you have to renew them all again and find it all somewhere else. With mindfulness practice, being present is sitting gently and allowing, then you open up to that which you already are, and this in itself delivers complete just being. This doesn't preclude or stop you going out into the world and achieving and doing and having fun, meeting people, having a good job, partners, children, etc. It's just that in the quietness of the night in the solitude of yourself you can find a deeper sense of calm and being which is always available to you, giving you access to a depth of happiness joy and contentment. which then you can share with your family with your friends with the others with the world all through the act of sitting and doing nothing on purpose.
Compost transformation of the mind: the practical use of mindfulnessWould you like to stop all those unwanted thoughts andfeelings in your head? Join me in personal 1:1 focused sessionswhere you will learn to transform your core thoughts and feelings. 1:1  ZOOM appointment  Call / TXT  Huw 07787870841 huw@mindfulnessbath.co.ukThe practise of mindfulness is the art of making space within the mind. Compost transformation of the mind: the practical use of mindfulness. An internal spaciousness allows the ability to have insight into the way your mind and your consciousness is working. changing all the garbage into a seedbed to grow happy positive thoughts and living. It is counter-intuitive, in that you do not try to understand, however, the insight arrives through the practice of allowing space, as the tightness of the mind relaxes, so the intuition and insight appear. You begin to just know, you trust yourself more, you observe yourself without being involved with the stories, the dialogue, and rumination. Instinctively picking out all that is important or needs attention, what's letting the rest just run. The clever mind, intellectual mind, will spend a lot of energy and time in trying to control the outcomes, the meaning, and it will evaluate the opportunity. The insight mind, the Conscious awareness mind, allows the space to show all the aspects of the thought and feeling you're experiencing. It is as if you hold it arm's-length without becoming embroiled in all the past details and projected possible outcomes. The clever mind can make you happy joyful, all sad and despondent and energyless. These feelings and the expressions of their energy envelop us without our knowing. Leading to a  life of reactive continual expression of the emotions at that moment. The insight mind allows the use of space and internal spaciousness to be aware are or what really is happening. And from this space, you know intuitively the action or response which will be in your highest interest, and that of the others involved. Working with the mind is like composting. Creating garden compost is an art form. It is far more than taking all the rubbish, and throwing it in the corner, and hoping it will turn itself into soft soil. Composting is taking and allowing the constituent minerals elements and fibre of the past life to be broken down, warmed up, and converted into a soft nutritious seedbed. When we compost the mind it is the same. It is the air between the twigs and the leaves and the kitchen waste, that allows for the transformation to occur. In the mind, it is the space between the thoughts, and the feelings and the memories and the actions which allow for the transformation to occur. The space between is so important in life, it's that which allows life to exist, and grow and flourish. By sitting and being present on purpose, allowing the clever thoughts to drop Away, and focusing ones attention on what really is now, creates the space for things to happen and change. Often leading to a sense of peace and calm and tranquillity. Practising mindfulness improve your life.
Would you like to stop all those unwanted thoughts andfeelings in your head? Book a personal 1:1 focused session 1 hr (£45)where you will learn to transform your core thoughts and feelings. 1:1  ZOOM appointment  Call / TXT  Huw 07787870841 huw@mindfulnessbath.co.ukThe symptom is really not the cause. After 30 years of being an acupuncturist I truly realised that although people come to me to have their ailments relieved, my purpose is to find the cause of these symptoms and then treat the cause.   As when patients come with psoriasis and they just blame the skin and often think it is maybe something to do with their diet or the cream they put on their body,  the soap powder in the washing machine. True it could be but far more likely it is their lifestyle, and the way they worry and are concerned about aspects of their life. For our minds are so clever, and think so much, so often, we alter our internal biology and chemical balances, just by the way we think. Everything is connected, interconnected, the whole. You cannot take one aspect away and expect the body's system to carry on working as it did before. A bit like taking one wheel off the car and saying I still have three wheels on the car it should be ok. By practising mindfulness, we bring our clever mind into balance and use our consciousness to focus now in this present moment. For in the present moment things are as they are. Life is as it is. Nine times out of ten we are fine in this moment everything is ok In this moment. It's just the way we think about things and catastrophes about our life which make us distressed and worried and this makes life more difficult. Coming back to the moment on purpose gives us insight and clarity. Practise this and change your life. When we can focus our attention into this present moment life is is more gentle calm and rewarding. Why would this be? Because our minds create a lot of our problems, the clever projecting forward, the disappointment of looking back and the expectations of the future, all actually change our physiological and neurological chemicals in our body and mind, which then alters the way we feel experience and act. It is so important to spend time gently with yourself doing very little. Just allow the space to be. this allows you to recalibrate rebalance and re-energize yourself. Try practising this any place any time. Mindfulness isn't about sitting cross-legged in the sunset looking like a Yogi, it is about an attitude of mind which can be accessed any place any time.
Mindfulness practice can and does help you to be creative. To be creative with mindfulness is actually upside down, as mindfulness allows you to be creative. Strange as it may seem by sitting and doing nothing on purpose you can actually open up the channels of your creativity. The clever linear scientific rational mind, is great and getting it from A to B, but not so good In being creative on how we get there and how much we enjoy the journey getting there. There is an old saying 'It's not arriving at your destination that is important but it's the journey along the way that matters'. Linear thinking is always focused on the destination. However, if we are more creative and encompassing, fluid and open to the journey, then we might find we enjoy the journey more. For life is the journey. If you are constantly thinking that your life is the thing which will happen to you in the end. Then you just missed your life. You lost your creative spirit.Instead of life you may just have had a load of thoughts, of expectations, wants, desires, disappointments, let downs and confusions. For you see the brain is very clever at setting goals, linear goals like:  I will be happy when...I reach the other side of that mountain, when I get to the greener grass on the other side, when I got my degree, when I have more money, when I have the perfect partner, the perfect house, the perfect hair, the perfect pair of shoe. But have you noticed  even when you get those perfect shoes it only last a brief time. That sense of fulfilment and pleasure and joy  is gone in a few hours, days, or a week. All because it is dependent on the feeling of pleasure we get from succeeding with want we want. As soon as that has come and gone we have to do it again and look for more things to fill that empty void within us. You need to be more creative. Maybe you haven't really enjoyed your journey at all. Dissatisfaction comes from not appreciating what we have now. Being  Creative allows us to delve into the moment, to reach different aspects of the same, and come up with new and varied and exciting opportunities within which to enhance enrich and our lives.  For instance your most creative when you are relaxed. As a result of not trying, it all just happens. Those insights you needed, that extra bit of zooph, will suddenly appear as if from nowhere, magically there to support you. Generally we try, we try too hard, and we are not creative,  we get tired, we get confused, and then we just go off for some distraction. It's easier not to try, not to be creative, just go along for the ride. But it doesn't lead to a fulfilled life. With these mindfulness practices I'm sharing with you, they will change the structure of your brain. You will build new neural pathways, new ways of doing things, see things differently, and become naturally more creative. You will not have to try to become creative, however, you will have to take notice when you're in distraction. The new wave of becoming being in the present soon builds. Focusing in the present relieves your mind from distraction and opens it to the possibilities of now. It's not what you do it's the way that you do it, it's not what you say it's the way that you say it, it's not what you think it's the way that you think it. Change the way you think, make more space in your mind, be more present, and you will become more creative. This takes the journey on a winding twisting wobbling route not just a quick zip between a and b, filling your life with chance, creativity, excitement, adventure and fullness. The beginning of this journey is now this moment this day this breath. Enjoy.

What is it all about……. listening to the birds out in the garden, sitting by a river and listening to the water, listening to the wind in the trees of the branches through the leaves. If you have the opportunity to put your attention and have the intention to do It, it really does open something else up inside your consciousness. Personally I find it very calming to my mind. And if you can listen with full attention, in very much a mindfulness practice way, you can absorb the quality without having to know. When I say to know it's about having to use reason. Mindfulness Mind Gym
