Description

A Big Mouthful was created as a place to discuss what it's like to be LGBT+ and to understand some of the issues that we live with and what affects our mental health. However, most of the topics discussed are relevant to absolutely everyone. Some of the discussions are serious, emotional, controversial, extremely light hearted and humorous but above all, hopefully you will find them informative and give you something to think about.

28th August 2021.It was an amazingly sunny day.The Peoples' Park in Ashington was the venue for Northumberland Pride. This was our first outing as a Network since 2019.It was amazing being able to mix with other queer folk and to talk about many issues especially around mental health. We heard some really heart warming stories and some sad ones too and we hope we were able to help and support those of you we engaged with.Watch our video from the day at:https://youtu.be/rhjRoFgOeSwPlease contact...
Christmas can be a difficult time of the year for so many reasons. It can increase a sense of sorrow, loss, isolation, despondency, failure, regret and despair to identify just a few issues. It can also be a time of over indulgence in many areas, food, alcohol, drugs, sex, risk taking behaviours, anger and for some being abused. This episode doesn't try to resolve all those issues but it does look at what we can do to feel empowered, to be mindful, present and hopefully more resilien...

We talk about queer women in literature and how they are represented. Next we have Ken Jarrold who is the Chairman of a large NHS foundation Trust. ...
I have been having conversations with people who have been expressing their own anxieties about the Corona virus. This made me think that if my friends and those I care for are experiencing this, then there must be a lot of other people with the same thoughts. This Podcast will hopefully help you understand why we are anxious but also give you some support on how to manage that anxiety.I also give you a couple of exercises you can do to help manage your anxiety or any other distressing thoughts...

No one should ever experience discrimination, violence, hatred, condemnation, prejudice, abuse, fetishisation or be oppressed because of the colour of their skin. The language that is still used today to identify people of colour is appalling and the biases associated with people from different countries is disgusting. My guest for this episode’s conversation is an amazing young black woman. She lives in London and is a fund raiser for a charity that supports young people affected by viole...

She is however, still developin...
