Welcome to episode 1223 and in this episode, we discussed about reviewing your year as a sports parent. As the year comes to a close, take a moment to review your journey as a sports parent. Think about the moments that brought joy, the challenges that tested your patience, and the valuable life lessons learned along the way. How did you support your child’s passion, balance commitments, and foster their growth on and off the field? Reflection not only highlights the progress made but also sets the stage for greater goals in the coming year. Things you need to do in reviewing the year as a sports parent:1. Understand that it is more about your child than it is about you.(Using this percentage 70:30)2. You need to review based on where your child is coming from & not where they are going 3. Don't compare them to other kids.4. Seat with your child and ask questions.5. You need to use the MSP framework. If you found this episode helpful, share it with a fellow athlete to help them on their quest to achieve their sports goals. "The degree to which a person can grow is directly proportional to the amount of truth he can accept about himself without running away." - Leland Val Van De Wall. This quote resonates deeply with the journey of an athlete. In sports, growth is not just about physical strength or skill but about the ability to confront and accept the truth about oneself. Whether it’s acknowledging a weakness, admitting a mistake, or recognizing the need for a better mindset, an athlete’s progress begins with self-awareness.Greatness in sports isn’t achieved by running from the truth but by confronting it with courage. Athletes who accept their realities, learn from them, and push forward grow not only in their sport but also in character, proving that self-awareness is the foundation of excellence. If you found this episode helpful, share it with a fellow athlete to help them on their quest to achieve their sports goals. As 2024 comes to an end, I’ve taken time to reflect on the year, what worked, what didn’t, and what I’ve learned along the way.  This year taught me the value of setting clear goals and staying intentional. Some goals were achieved, and those moments were incredibly rewarding. Other times, I fell short, but even in those moments, I gained clarity on what I need to improve.  Reviewing my wins and losses reminded me of how important it is to measure progress and adjust when things don’t go as planned. It’s not just about achieving success but also about learning from the journey.  In 2025, you need to be  more determined than ever to set meaningful goals, track my progress, and keep growing. If you found this episode helpful, share it with a fellow athlete to help them on their quest to achieve their sports goals. In the journey of life and sports, recognizing when you're heading in the wrong direction is one of the most important lessons for athletes, coaches, and sports parents alike. As the saying goes, "If you get on the wrong train, be sure to get off after the first stop; the longer you stay on, the more expensive your return trip is going to cost."This speaks to the importance of self-awareness and timely action. Whether it's sticking to a training routine that isn't yielding results, staying in a toxic team environment, or holding onto strategies that no longer serve your goals, the sooner you make a change, the less damage you'll have to undo later. Success isn't just about staying on track; it's also about knowing when to pivot, reset, and realign your efforts to match your true potential. The key is not to fear adjustments but to embrace them as part of the growth process. The cost of delay is always higher than the courage to make the right choice today. Stay intentional, stay focused, & trust the process. If you found this episode helpful, share it with a fellow athlete to help them on their quest to achieve their sports goals.
