3 Ways to Stop Being So Hard On Yourself
Description
In my own inner work and in my work with my clients, there is often a pattern that takes shape whenever they face big breakthroughs and gain new perspectives. They begin to realize what their blind spots are and in turn, they become really hard on themselves for who they’ve been, how they’ve shown up, and how they’ve gotten to their present state. In all this work of forward momentum, healing, and visioning, there is a resistance to going backward and misstepping. However, the truth is, we are all always taking 1 step forward and 2 steps back. It’s truth, it’s normal, and it’s part of growth.
In this episode, I’m sharing why you might be being so hard on yourself, why you don’t need to be, and 3 ways that you can stop being so hard on yourself and show yourself love.
I hope this episode feels nurturing and supportive for you and that you can take what you need from it and follow your gut towards your ultimate vision.
In this episode, you’ll learn:
-
3 ways you can stop being so hard on yourself when you experience fluctuations in your life and growth.
-
Tip 1: If you notice you’re slipping back into old patterns, stay curious as to why. Maybe there is a residual hurt or a resentment present somewhere. Ask yourself some open-ended questions for clarity and insight and journal on them.
-
Tip 2: Have grace and compassion with yourself. Sit in the simplicity of what grace and compassion are. Think about how you’d give compassion to a friend and give that to yourself.
-
Tip 3: If you’re slipping back into old patterns, talk it out with a professional or a friend. Just make sure you’re ready to hear their insight. Having resistance to honest feedback is normal, but it’s important to be ready to hear it and reflect on it.
-
Why there is often resistance to changing habits.
-
If it doesn’t feel like a whole body yes, it’s okay to say no.
-
If you don’t set boundaries or choose to challenge yourself, you won’t feel aligned and free of resistance.
-
How to know when it’s time to let go of some of the hard stuff holding you back.
-
Why it’s important to not force yourself to do what you think you “should” be doing, which can ultimately wreck your path of inner clarity and peace.
