An Amicable Divorce- Is it a Myth?
Description
With the divorce rate hovering around 50% for the past several decades, divorce dramas are now common in the media as well as in many of our personal lives. If we haven’t gone through a divorce, we probably know a few friends or family who have had one. And the costs are not only personal and psychological, but often financial.
In this episode, our friend Wade talks to us about his own experience going through an “amicable divorce”. If you haven’t heard of this term, you are not alone. Joel and I weren’t familiar with this either. Our idea of the typical divorce is one full of contention and strife as ex partners take each other to court. The story is our heads is that divorce is expensive, difficult and often prolonged. But our friend Wade was able to handle his divorce in a way that minimizes these issues. A process he calls an “amicable divorce”. He talks us through the pros and cons of the process, what he wished he could have done differently, and how it turned out for him and his family.
Take a listen and tell us what you think! Have you gone through a divorce? If you have, how do you think yours compared to Wade’s experience? If you haven’t, how do you think you would choose to handle it?
