EP 1202 - Selects Edition - How To Make Better Decisions As An Athlete
Update: 2024-11-06
Description
On today's select edition of the podcast, we look back at the episode 338 - How to make better decisions as an athlete.
Making better decisions as an athlete is about more than just talent— it’s a mindset. By setting clear goals, staying aware of your strengths and areas to improve, and using tools like visualization, athletes can make more strategic choices.
We share four ways you can make a better decision as an athlete.
1. Question Everything. Questioning everything is one of the best ways to make smarter decisions as an athlete. Instead of just doing things because they’re “how it’s always been done,” take a step back and ask why. Why are you using this training method? What is this supplement for? Why does this routine work—or not work—for you? When you start asking questions, you’re not just following a script; you’re finding what really works for you.
2. Seek advice from third party: Seeking advice from a third party can help athletes make better decisions by providing an outside perspective. Coaches, mentors, or experienced teammates can offer valuable insights that you might overlook. Their feedback helps you see things from different angles and make more informed choices, leading to improved performance and growth.
3. Always reflect on your decision:
As an athlete, this will help you to learn and grow. After making a choice, take time to evaluate how it worked out. Did it bring you closer to your goals? What could you have done differently? This reflection process helps you make more informed decisions in the future and avoid repeating mistakes.
4. Trust your gut: Trusting your gut can help you as an athletes to & make quick, confident decisions. Your instincts are often shaped by experience and training, so listening to them in key moments can guide you toward choices that feel right and align with your goals.
