S1 Ep 4: Talking about - Eating disorders and men
Description
In this episode, ARU Counsellor Lucas Oliver, is joined by Lucas Negroni, current ARU student and Peer Wellbeing Mentor, and Daniel Fonseca-O'Connor, Eating Disorders Training Assistant from the Personalised Eating Disorder Support charity (PEDS), to talk about eating disorders and men.
Despite the typical stereotype of eating disorders, around one in three sufferers are men, but they are much less likely to seek support. This conversation takes a look at which eating disorders might be more common amongst men, such as anorexia athletica, how social media can impact this, how to recognise when someone might be having issues with eating and food and how to signpost them to support.
