Description

Founder of The “I Love U Guys” foundation, John-Michael Keyes sits down with Bryce Hamilton, LCSW to tackle a difficult but important subject for any parent. As of the time of publishing this episode, firearms remain the leading cause of death in children and teens in the United States. John-Michael works with communities, parents, first-responders, and schools to educate emergency protocol in the event of an active shooter. He talks with Bryce on how we can talk to our children about being prepared for an event, having a plan in place, and how we as parents and a community can help push to end school shootings.

Show Notes:

The “I Love U Guys” Foundation was started in 2006 by Ellen and John-Michael Keyes following a school shooting that took the life of their daughter, Emily. On that day Emily sent two text messages… One to her mother, Ellen, “I love u guys. K” and to her father, John-Michael, “I love you guys.”

The mission is to restore and protect the joy of youth through educational programs and positive actions in collaboration with families, schools, communities, organizations and government entities. They lead training programs and help implement standard procedures and protocols for emergency response. Today, the Foundation is led and supported by survivors, family members, first responders and community members with a vested interest in safety, preparedness and reunification in schools.
