The Sino-Indian relations: unresolved border issue and its impact on the bilateral cooperation

Description

The border issue affects to the Sino-Indian relations directly, but the positive trends in bilateral economic relations, which were shaped by economic reforms by both sides, changed positions towards the border issue. In addition to the fast growing economic indicators, comprehensive national strength has been constantly raised, which also has its implications to the border question. This paper analyzes from the historical perspective the emergence of the border dispute and tries to find the ends which show that economic interdependence plays one of the most potent instruments in resolving political difficulties. Notwithstanding the apparent improvements in bilateral relations, the Sino-
Indian border issue remains a stumbling block in developing bilateral cooperation so far.
