Description

This Añejo shocked me… 30 months in bourbon oak and I was NOT expecting this flavor profile. Today I’m reviewing the Cárdenas Legacy Añejo — an additive-free, small-batch tequila crafted at NOM 1468 in Arandas by Master Distiller Francisco González Jr. Aged in American White Oak bourbon barrels for 30 full months, this Añejo brings warm caramel, vanilla, cream soda, candied lemon, and barrel spice on the nose. The palate hits with cooked agave, cinnamon, honey, oak, and that bourbon-barrel punch. The finish? Long, bright, and dripping with butterscotch, pepper, and sherry-like sweetness. This bottle was created with influence from tequila legend Marco Cedano, and designed to honor the multi-generation Cárdenas family heritage — U.S. veterans, early New Mexico settlers, and a deep pride for authentic tequila culture. In this video, I break down: ✔️ Full nose, palate & finish ✔️ Brick-oven cooking + open-air fermentation ✔️ Copper pot distillation ✔️ Why this Añejo truly shocked me ✔️ Whether Cárdenas Legacy is worth grabbing If you’ve tried it, I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
