22: Disordered Eating and Finding Food Freedom with Ekaterina (Kate) Timofeeva

On this episode, I sit down with Ekaterina (Kate) Timofeeva, a Food Freedom Coach, to discuss disordered eating. Kate is vulnerable and shares her personal history with disordered eating and diet culture. After struggling for many years and being isolated from friends and family, Kate decided to seek therapy and adopt an intuitive eating mindset. Since then, Kate has healed her relationship with her body and was able to achieve food freedom. Now Kate works as a Food Freedom Coach to help other women let go of negative feelings towards food and embrace healthy habits. My favorite part of this episode is our discussion of disordered eating as a spectrum of behavior. There is no black and white in this area and you do not need to have a formally diagnosed eating disorder to have a strained relationship with food. If you are struggling, I urge you to reach out to friends or family members for support with seeking treatment that is appropriate for you. If you love getting to know Kate, you can stay in touch with her on Instagram at @ekaterina.timofeeva_ FOLLOW RACH ON SOCIAL: @realhealthwithrach on Instagram Real Health with Rach on Facebook INDIVIDUALIZED HEALTH COACHING: Looking for personalized health and nutrition support? 16: My mental health journey: Breaking the stigma with Rach

On this episode, I take you through my personal mental health journey. Breaking the stigma of talking about mental health is so important to me and I can't ask you guys to do something I haven't done  myself. While I've always been an open book, I've struggled with shame and self consciousness around my mental health issues and this is the most vulnerable content I've ever shared. I really hope that in hearing my story and life experience, you realize that you are not alone. If you look at my social media from the outside and think I have it all together, you're wrong. I'll cover my life long battle with anxiety, my history of panic attacks and subsequent use of anti depressants to treat  them, and I'll leave you with the coping mechanisms I've learned that  have helped me the most. If you're struggling right now and need someone to talk to, my DMs and email are always open, so please don't hesitate to reach out for support or a friendly ear to listen. During the show, I reference my favorite book on meditation, Stress Less, Accomplish More, which I highly recommend if you're struggling with anxiety or want to learn to meditate! Amy and I start by talking about healthy habits for parents and cover sleep, nutrition, and exercise. We dive into the importance of role modeling and how the behaviors you exhibit for your kids will set the stage for the rest of their lives. She is my first international guest coming to us all the way from the United Kingdom! I love her accent almost as much as I love her energy and passion for her work. During the show, we discuss limiting beliefs - what they are, where they come from, and how to overcome them. If you feel like you're the only one who focuses on the negative, it's not your fault! Our brain's default programming is to see the negative and you have to make a conscious effort to override that. Nicola leaves you with some tactical advice to create and maintain a positive mindset, which I think we could all use a little more of right now.  If you want to work with Nicola, check out her course, or just follow her on social to see all of her positive content, you can find her at @nicolacharlottecoaching. On this episode, I sit down with Bobbi Klein, a motivational speaker and event marketer who loves to live life to the fullest. A decade ago, Bobbi was suffering from unexplained weight loss, abdominal pain, and malabsorption of nutrients, but couldn't get an accurate diagnosis from a doctor. After a trip to the ER and prescription for pain meds, she was written off as "crazy." Not long after, Bobbi ended up in emergency surgery and had part of her colon resected (she was definitely not crazy). Following her surgery, Bobbi spent multiple years in recovery and talks us through the specific modalities she used to heal her gut and microbiome. 11: Learning to cope with anxiety (especially during COVID) with Jenn

On this episode, I sit down with Jenn Kalchik, of Jenn and Tonic, to talk about her personal mental health journey. Jenn is super honest about her struggle with anxiety and talks about her experience with panic attacks, anti-anxiety medication, and therapy. We talk about how to communicate with those around you about your mental health needs, including your partner, friends, and even your employer. This year has definitely been anxiety inducing for me, and Jenn had to deal with the added stress of being furloughed and moving to a new state at the same time. Jenn shares the coping mechanisms that have helped her stay sane, centered, and grounded this year, which I know you are going to appreciate and implement in your own life! I'm grateful to Jenn for being open and honest about her own mental health journey, because it is so important to me that we de-stigmatize talking about mental health and make "my therapist said" a commonplace in our conversations. If you want to stay connected to Jenn, you can find her blog @jennandtoniclife.
