💁🏻 Concept: Spirit

The spirit is the immaterial part of man, often used interchangeably with “soul,” yet in Scripture sometimes distinguished as the deepest seat of life, understanding, and fellowship with God. It is by the spirit that man communes with God (Job 32:8; Proverbs 20:27 ). Unlike the body, the spirit does not perish but returns to God who gave it (Ecclesiastes 12:7). While man is a unity of body and soul/spirit, his spirit is not autonomous—it is utterly dependent on God’s sustaining grace. Because of sin, our spirits are dead apart from Christ (Ephesians 2:1), but through regeneration the Holy Spirit renews us, making us alive to God and enabling us to worship Him “in spirit and truth” (John 4:24 ).

📖 Bible Readings: Zechariah 12:1

(Ecclesiastes 12:7; Job 32:8; Proverbs 20:27 ; John 4:24 ; Ephesians 2:1–5; Hebrews 12:9; Job 32:8; Proverbs 20:27 ; Ephesians 2:1; John 4:24 )

🙏🏼 Prayer:

Father, I acknowledge that my life and breath come from You alone. Thank You for giving me a spirit capable of knowing and worshiping You, and for renewing me through the Holy Spirit in Christ. Forgive me for the times I live just for myself. Forgive me for not focusing on what really matters. Strengthen me each day to walk in holiness, worship You sincerely, and depend on Your sustaining grace. May my spirit glorify You until I return to You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
