25 Different Blog Post Ideas

So we all know we should be putting content out to the world right? But like with our diet and exercise regime, just because we know we should do it, doesn’t mean that we actually do it. One of the barriers I come up against when I am talking with business owners about their marketing plan is they just don’t know what to write about. So here are 25 different blog post ideas to get you started.

In this post I will explain why you need content, the types of content you could put out and then what to do after you put it out.

First of all why do you need to create content?

Stop asking for marriage on the first date

I was at a conference for estate agents last week, and they all do this… the first contact you have with them is let me sell your house. Or… buy this house. Erm… excuse me… who are you?

Content is a way of building relationships with your prospects, so that when they are ready to buy you are the only option in their mind.

Does it take effort? You bet! So does dating!

Is it worth it? Absolutely!

What Types Of Content Should You Put Out To Your Audience

What a great opportunity we have right now. In this day and age, we have access to write, be on our own tv shows, be on our own radio shows, and more. You can be a media publishing company, for next to nothing!

Think about it… You’ve got …

Blog posts

Video – tv

Podcasts – radio

Pinterest & Instagram are whole platforms built on just using a picture!

I know a lot of people get overwhelmed just thinking about this. So as I always say, start with one thing, get into a routine with it, then bring in another (or do I what I have done here…. Create a podcast and blog from one piece of content, cheeky hey).

Now, before we go any further, what I want you to do is look at your ideal client, look at the journey they are on, all the way till they buy your product and beyond.

If you don’t know who your ideal client is, figure that out first. You need to know everything about them.

Next ask yourself this…

How can you help people before they even know they have an issue?

Russell Brunson talks about this in his book DotComSecrets, and his new book Expert Secrets – click here to get a free copy of that book. Someone who doesn’t even know they have an issue yet.

The easy sell is to people, that already know they have a problem, already know they need a solution, and that you have that solution they need. But what about people who don’t know they have the problem…

I am going to use an estate agent example again, its fresh in my mind…

How do you know that someone is going to think about moving a year before they know?

They start buying storage boxes to go under the bed.

Why? Because they are now thinking they don’t have enough space, they are looking for ways to maximise their current space.

When all that space is used up in 6 months time, they are going to start feeling really tight in their home. They may look at an extension, or loft conversion.

They are on Pinterest, Facebook, blogs, looking at adding more space to their home.

Once they have seen the cost of that, they start to think about just moving, it’s going to be easier to do that.

They start browsing on Rightmove, just looking, window shopping.

Then 7 days later, they have decided they HAVE to move!

They think that they made that decision on a Thursday night, over a glass of wine and a chat with their husband.

Rubbish, that process has been going on in their minds for a year already.

Now what if you had been the go to person for the last year?

What if each time they had a question, about which storage to use, extensions etc etc, they browsed YOUR site?

When they made that decision to sell their home and buy a new one, who do you think they are going to go to first?

You know it!!

Map that journey out for your ideal client. Know them better than they know themselves.

Once you have got that journey, then to come up with some blog post ideas, simply ask yourself…

What questions are they typing into google?

Go through each stage your ideal client goes through before they buy and come up with all the questions you can think of and then…

Answer them 🙂

That alone will give you a whole bunch of blog post ideas.

If you are struggling to come up with the questions, then go find your ideal clients, and ask them to ask you all the questions they have about your topic. Make sure you have a pen and paper at the ready.

Now we have got those questions… Let’s look at the types of posts you could do, and yes these could be done in written, video, podcast, whatever….

At this point you are in the Being Useful stage. You are providing value through giving them helpful stuff. There are all kinds of other routes you can go down, here are just a few..
