Today we are diving into the topic of building a personal brand and why its essential that you start building yours!
By the way, this is not an episode of me telling you to post on Instagram 4 times a day, post videos regularly as that’s what Facebook want, and to actually have conversations with your audience. Those are important, and you should do those things. Those are tactics, and they are vitally important.
What we are going to look at today is the strategy for building a personal brand.
Why It’s Important For Your Company’s Growth That You Have A Personal Brand
There are soooo many people out there, who are freaking amazing at what they do, and yet they struggle to get people listening to their message, and struggle to sell anything.
THAT SUCKS!
If you have a message that can truly benefit people, then they need to hear it!
And today I am going to be talking about why building a personal brand is important for your company’s growth.
Whether you want to create a mass movement, or have 1000 raving fans, you are going to want to listen to this.
Look I get it, as a small business owner you already have roughly a million things to be doing. You are trying to build your company brand and thats hard enough on its own right?
And here I am saying, oh just add this one more thing to your plate.
But I am telling you its going to be worth it!
Also, I know for a lot of people, myself included, the idea of really and truly putting yourself out there will scare the crap out of them.
It all comes back to that feeling of.. I’m not good enough.
Or what if people don’t like me.
I get it! Those fears will ALWAYS be there!
You have spent years studying, becoming the expert, now its’ time to make sure the world gets the information you can give to them.
The only way to get over those fears…is to do it!
And by the way…
Do people like you in real life?
Yes!? So why would be any different online? Are you suddenly going to become a dick? No!
You are going to be you. And the people that resonate with you will be drawn towards you.
Why have a personal brand?
If you a business owner, or want to launch your own business, having a personal brand is going to help you build a bigger audience who are more engaged and ultimately make more sales.
If you aren’t a business owner or have no interest in being one. A personal brand could help you move up the career path quicker. You employers and future employers will google your name when you come in for an interview… what are they going to find?
People build relationships with people, not businesses.
If you feel you have a good relationship with a business, then chances are you are really talking about having a good relationship with the people or a person at the business.
This is really a kick up the backside to myself, but I thought I would share it with you guys too as I think it’s important that everyone hears this.
People buy from people that they know, like and trust.
I say that over and over again.
People are searching for a leader.
People want to be led.
They are not led by a business, they are led by a person.
If you want to build an audience of raving fans… people that buy everything you put out there then having a personal brand is key. People will feel like they have a relationship with you, through engaging with all your content.
You have become the expert, now you are sharing that with the world. Whether its through products or services.
Strategy For Building A Personal Brand
Most people go into this with no plan, they just start posting on Instagram and Facebook as much as they can. Which is a great start. Consistency, amount and quality of content is key. As I said at the start today we are not looking at tactics but overall strategy.
But if you want to build a mass movement there is more to it than just posting pictures here and there.

If you look at all the historical figures, leaders, people who built HUGE audiences and created massive change, there are 3 things all of them have in common…
- They each had a charismatic leader or attractive character
- Each focused on a future based cause that was bigger than themselves
- They offered their audience a new opportunity.
As I said I was just going to scrape the surface, we will dive into building YOU as an attractive character. But I highly recommend you go get that book.
So how do you become an attractive character? Someone who others want to follow and hear from all the time?
A lot of the components of becoming an attractive character, luckily you already have. You just have never used them or looked at them in this way.
Share Your Journey
The journey you have been on, the stories about the goals you have achieved. Why would your ideal customer listen to you? Have you achieved what they want?
Maybe you have 2 or 3 journeys that you could share.
If you are not there yet it doesn’t matter, be the person that is doing it as they go and peolpe are following along for the ride.

Share Your flaws…
I think one of people’s biggest fear is that they will be seen as a fraud, that they aren’t this perfect person.
You know what!? No one is! It’s what makes us real! Kryptonite is the only thing that makes us actually connect with superman. He has a flaw.
People need to see those flaws to truly connect with you.
Share Your Passions
What are you passionate about? Let people into that world. Even better if its the thing you are selling.
Don’t Be Boring
If you are putting content out there and no one is engaging with it.. Chances are its not entertaining in anyway. It doesn’t add value. The market tells us what is valuable, we don;t tell the market what they should like.
Don’t Be For Everyone
If you are trying to put a message out there for everyone, it
