Our guest today is Amber Neff, here's Amber describing her platform....

My platform is that of building confidence through pageantry and sisterhood. Since competing in Miss Curvy Nevada 4 years ago, I have met women who have built my confidence and have supported my dreams and become sisters to me, and I have supported them as well. In turn, I continue that by encouraging people to support each other through pageantry. Pageants may be a competition, but by teaching our contestants that rather than stepping on someone on your way up, you lift each other up. I genuinely believe that people who hear women do and say kind things and be of service to others they will grow to be the type of person who does not think twice to do the same.
What are you doing to promote your Platform?
The way I promote my platform is by being the Executive Director of the Silver State Pageant system in Nevada. Silver State Pageants is family and community-oriented system. As the director of a pageant system, I take a very personal approach to directing, it is not a revolving door of unknown contestants competing. I get to know my contestants and their families, and from the moment they enter they become part of my family and they know that everyone before and after will also be their family. Unfortunately, I have seen that so many people have not had much positive reinforcement or supportive people in their life. With the support of other women, I have been able to build a place for that to happen for them.
In the last four years I have been able to speak publicly about my platform, at events and on the radio by promoting my pageant and its purpose and mission. Though I still get negative comments about pageantry, I feel I am able to express how valuable it is to those who participate. Like sports, pageantry teaches participants values such as positive competition, compassion for others, skill building and at times team work. By explaining that aspect and the family oriented and community oriented nature of pageantry, I feel I am getting through to a lot of people.
