Chapter 8: Isolation and Depression
Description
Have you ever been forgotten or felt forgotten about? Not nice, is it? Your one constant friend may be your own thoughts, some of which may be downright ugly. And yet an important stage in the development of anyone who ends up being a major influence on others is that in his sovereignty God may allow them to be isolated at times. If that’s your situation, then you’re in good company. It could be because of illness, some form of persecution, misunderstanding or rejection. Isolation can also lead to depression, something that can cripple a person’s mental health. This is where the psalms in the Bible can be so helpful. Reading them is like pondering written records of not physical but ‘soul-exercises’ which we can then put into practice. This episode unpacks and applies Psalm 13.
