From Kluse to Döppersberg
Description
Today, the mainstation houses an impressive mall… and a piano, which everyone can play.
The monorail station and the Döppersberg, over which you are just floating, were anything but attractive for seven years. Because the largest construction site at the heart of the city created much hustle and bustle along with a lot of noise.
Even Wuppertal's busy mainroad, the B7, had to be closed over several hundred meters for many years, because the busy four-lane road moved underground to make room upstairs for a generous plaza, which houses a futuristic building with facade elements reminiscent of the yarn spools of the ribbon weavers.
The station building itself was liberated from an ugly entrance hall from the 1950s, received an elaborate update inside and is now allowed to shine in its original form. Also a very modern bus depot was built.
