Description

Let´s turn!

Who would have thought this? Although the trains of the suspension monorail are longer than any urban bus, their turning radius is tighter than that of most cars. It needs all of nine meters to turn around and drive off in the opposite direction. That is a technical masterpiece; unfortunately not to be witnessed by the passengers.

Only the driver remains on board during the manoeuvre at the depot, which is happening shortly. By the way, he has one of the rarest driving licenses in the world. It has only ever been issued a couple of hundred times.

When you disembark at the terminal and change over to the other platform, look south-east and you can see an enormous steel giant. Once there were 60 million litres of gas stored. Today, the "Gaskessel" (gas cauldron) is a sensational attraction definitely worth a visit.

Inside, a fascinating light installation is displayed on Europe's largest 6,000 square meter screen. If you want to get up high – go for it: Just enter the lift and enjoy panoramic views from the roof of the 65 meter high cauldron unrivalled not only in the valley. You love pizza, pasta and Co.? Then why not drop in to the "Aposto" – because Wuppertal's steel sensation houses a great restaurant as well as a fitness centre.
